For Conley, a lot of the damage came from Ahlers, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns, all of which came in the second half. He also rushed for 83 yards.
Cornell Powell's first touch of the football was a punt return that he fielded on the 17 and returned 83 yards for a touchdown. Receiving wise it was an atrocious night for the Rampants as their quarterback could not get the ball to his receivers. However, he did connect with Powell on 4 passes for 30 yards. All of which were Wr screens. Due to the rain and wet ground throwing the ball was not an option for a team that has thrown for over 600 yards and 9 touchdowns in its previous two games.
IMO Powell certainly looks the part and has a tremendous skill set. He is Rose High School and without them they are nothing. Didn't understand why they didn't do some jet sweeps with him or wildcat. Very strong, good moves, and burst of speed. Hands are exceptional and he displayed knowledge often telling others what the play was , where to line up, and telling coaches things that would work that did actually work.
Ahlers, for a sophomore, just say Stud. Kid put a team on his back and upset JH Rose with authority. Excellent command of the offense, can run the ball, and throws the ball so receivers can run right to it. High ceiling for this kid.
