It's been a long time since there's been a thread on the one and only. If there's anything you guys need to get off your chest, this is the thread to do it in.

I'll start. It bothers me that he's participated in Tiger Walks. That shouldn't happen.

I've read some of the posts regarding him, and have seen, for example, the clip of DW4 at a service walking out on stage. Has he really inserted himself into the football program - as in, gone over the line?

Full disclosure - somewhat of an agnostic here. So I'm looking at this in a neutral light.

No idea, but he has before. I'd say he does try to insert himself into the program.

He's one of the mega church type of pastors. It's more of a cult thing. I don't think he's a bad guy or anything, but if you don't give 10% of your gross income to Perry, he's not a fan of you.

This doesn't have anything to do with going to church or what you believe in though.

Most churches are poor stewards of money. It has spiraled out of control when churches spend 70% of their budget on salaries and maintainence and earmark 10-15% on missions and then pat themselves on the back.

Newspring is a lightening rod because they do it on grand scale but many churches need to take a hard look in the mirror. Is the focus on serving others or how the church can serve you?

In my opinion, the large majority of people that post about New Spring and/or Perry Noble have very little factual information to support their statements. Before anyone claims I am biased or have an agenda, I have attended the church in the past but decided to move in another direction that better suited my family.

He extorts money out of people who don't know any better.

He is no more of a Christian than Stalin was.

He is there as a guest of Coach Swinney. Coach Swinney is a member and is helping with the cost of The Newspring Clemson Campus. 1000's of Clemson students and athletes attend Newspring.

Newspring was started by Perry as a church for college students and it's first meeting took place at Anderson University with 8 people. Newspring growth has been fueled with its outreach geared towards youth. Their philosophy is MTV is spending millions to win over our youth. Newspring will tell you right away they have no senior programs, they are trying to lead our children to Christ. If you have a problem with Newspring then more than likely you don't fully understand their stated mission.

I assume you are trolling simply because you are wrong on every single thing in your post.

I mean statistically speaking you should get at least a couple things correct but you missed on all accounts

He's a crook, based on what? For someone who likes to come on here and ask for prayers when times are tough, you sure sling a lot of crap against the wall. The reason you get the sarcastic responses when you ask for prayers is because of stuff like this. Why sling crap against the wall in order to get a rise out of people? You don't like him? Fine. You don't like his church? Fine. But starting needless threads and calling him a crook? That's a little much. You should think before you post. Or, at least, don't act shocked when people bash you and make sarcastic comments when you come on here asking for prayers.

It's called a personal relationship for a reason.. Churches are to serve, teach and lead (that is true community) but they should not change our personal relationship with the Lord.

It doesn't bother me that you're not a fan of Perry. It does, however, bother me when you bash him for no reason and start threads out of the blue to stir up controversy. As far as the YouTube video is concerned, I'll watch it tomorrow and get back to you.

Do you understand that the 10% giving to the church is biblical? Every Christian church follows that same text, but it isn't a requirement as a member, no one audits your income.

I've got a few big problems with Perry Noble, and his whole rap on tithing is high up on the list. Check out this video clip:

According to Noble, if you don't agree with tithing 10% of your total income to God then you are "stupid." Not only that, but if you don't tithe 10%, then God is going to maliciously take it out on you by making your car continuously break down, making your children sick, making you unable to keep a job, etc. If that is not the most bat shit insane thing I've ever seen then I don't know what is. The fact that anyone could consider Noble a good pastor after seeing that and attend his church blows my mind. Noble preaches that the first 10% goes to God, but what he really means is that the first 10% goes to him.

So all the Newspring "owners" have swallowed all his BS hook, line, and sinker and made him rich. So rich, in fact, that he doesn't have time to preside over weddings or funerals for church members (I'm sorry I can't keep calling them owners because that's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard). Members over there don't even know where their money is going because the church won't tell them, which should be a gigantic warning sign that something shady is going on over there.

Anyways, to each his own. If people still want to go listen to that David Koresh clone preach on Sundays that's their business. They are free to give them their money and line his pockets, but they should do so knowing that following him isn't going to get you to Heaven any quicker, at least not in my opinion.

I also completely agree with Ron and Maduro, having Dabo Swinney or our football program associated with this clown in any way is extremely embarrassing. Does Swinney really attend church at Newspring every week? I thought he regularly attended somewhere else, but I guess I was wrong. I know Noble is the one that came to practice and baptized Nuk, but I didn't realize that's where Swinney attended church. Don't misunderstand me: Swinney attending church at Newspring doesn't embarrass me (although it does make me question his intelligence a tiny bit) because folks are free to worship wherever they like, but I do find Noble being associated with our football program in any capacity extremely embarrassing and I wish the AD or someone would put a stop to it.
