I think conference championship games will go away. I'm in support. Make it similar to the NFL. Here's my suggestion:
1. Conference Champs decided by regular season conference record.
2. Champs get automatic bid. CFP teams seeded by overall rankings. Top 4 ranked teams get first round bye.
3. Playoff starts two weekends after Thanksgiving. First 2 rounds are hosted by higher-seeded team on campus.
4. Semifinals are at Bowl sites, like 4-Team CFP. National Championship at rotating site and over by first weekend in January.
This helps alleviate transfer portal timing issues as well.
