I try to keep a running tab of who is on scholarship/recruiting numbers. From my vantage point, this is where we are and what we might need to address in the portal. Would love for @Paul Strelow or @Larry_Williams to step in and let me know if I have something wrong or if they’re hearing anything on portal targets. By my count with recruits added (including Thurmon) we sit at 82 currently though still expect some departures.
QUARTERBACK
Klubnik, Vizzina, Pearman (3)
Needs: (1) I’d think we would be looking for an option here. Ideally you’d like to have a 4th. I know everyone would like to have an option to truly push Cade but my guess is we go the savvy vet route again as a”break glass in case of emergency” option only.
Running Back
Mafah, Adams, Haynes, Green, E-Z (5)
Needs: (0) Technically Ship is still in the fold but I’m not counting him. Still, I think 5 is likely enough here.
Wide Receiver
Williams, Turner, Randall, Stellato, Brown, Johnson, Hanafin, Wesco, Moore (9)
Needs: (1) This is just my opinion but I think Hanafin should probably move to LB where we are thin. I think it would behoove us to try to find a proven option here.
Tight End
Brinny, Sapp, Olson, Dixon, Bentancur (5)
Needs: (0)
Offensive Line
Leigh, Sadler, Miller, Owens, Tate, Tucker, Parks, Pennington, Howard, Linthicum, Sewell, Reed, O’Connell, Young, Thurmon (15)
Needs: (2-3) Technically none though I think Paul has mentioned it’s still quite likely Tucker and Howard also leave though technically they aren’t off the board. If we could find someone with Center experience I’d certainly start there as well as adding a tackle body. Sounds like we have a few options here already.
Defensive End
Denhoff, Patterson, Lawson, Parker, Hoffler, Mayo, Kissayi (7)
Needs: (1-2) Honestly I'm shocked Patterson is still on the board. Maybe Rumph can work wonders and give us a Kevin Dodd type of season. Even still, I’d be after at least one portal piece. If we have any big NIL donor money I’d spend it here on a proven guy to start opposite Parker. Denhoff is a decent #2.
Defensive Tackle

Lukus, Terrell, Oliver, Lewis, Strozier, Tink, Gipson, Feagin, Hampton (9).
Needs (0): not sure if I should include Tink here or at WR though I think this is likely where he ends up long term.
Safety
Mickens, Venables, Covil, Griffin, Barnes, Billings, Webb, Dixon, Jones, Hampton (9). Needs (0).
Kickers/Punters
Swanson, Smith, Gunn, Hauser (4)
Needs (SUBTRACT 1-2): honestly this is too many on scholly. Would be nice if we could drop 1 or 2 but I digress.
