Riley: B-. I thought he grew some this year and Cade’s development from last year was very good. I think he gets too conservative when we get a lead and he has to find ways to score consistently in the red zone. We were handicapped at RB. I think he deserves another year to see what we can do with SR Cade.
Spiller: B. We got a lot out of Mafah this year when he was healthy. We failed to produce a backup RB but I’m not sure how much of that is Spiller’s fault. Hell of a job bringing in Gid in recruiting.
Grisham: A. I was ready to fire him after last year but this unit did a 180 from last year to this year.
Luke: A- I think he is the best hire we have had since BV and if we start paying top recruits here we will be able to build some really good lines with Luke.
Richardson- C+. Briningstool has been a good pass catching TE but I feel like everyone at this position is one dimensional. It seems that every TE on the roster is a good blocker or WR but no one cans do both that well. I know a lot of posters are enamored with his OC potential but we will see.
Goodwin: D-. Outside of Sammy I was not impressed with the production of our LB’s. We look lifeless at times on D and get outcoached consistently by good OC’s. This experiment should end asap.
Eason: D+. Teams gashed us up the middle all year. We did take his best player away and play them out of position but he’s had decent talent to work with and outside of Capehart I was not impressed with anyone here all year.
Rumph: C. I thought Parker grew a lot this year and is setting himself up for a big payday after next year. I take into consideration what Rumph had to work with. I would have like to see us land Bryce Davis but don’t think Rumph could have done much more outside of giving up his paycheck for that. Our DL was very disappointing across the board this year.
CB: B. We definitely hit on Hampton and Terrell looked great at times earlier in the year. I am hoping we can get back to recruiting some elite talent here. I wish Gibson would have been healthy as I think he could have been CB3. I was disappointed with Lewis and Lukus’ growth.
Conn: C+ I thought Mickens was great but Barnes did not progress much from last year. We lack depth and I am not sure I see the value in recruiting like I thought we would from Conn.
I think Goodwin is the one obvious change. I’m not sure anyone else has to go but I wouldn’t mind seeing some more movement to shake things up. I am interested to see if we get more serious about NIL how we are able to recruit with it. That has handicapped a lot of our coaches. Fair or not, I give leeway to those that came here with a track record. We still have a number of coaches that had little to no experience prior to Clemson and I’d be less inclined to extend the leash for them.
