Here is a breakdown of the preseason Top 10, Top 25 and Top 40 teams by conference. I know you can only take preseason rankings with a grain of salt, but I do like seeing the ACC with 5 teams in the top 25 (20%). However it blows my mind that the SEC and Big 10 make up 80% of the teams in the top 10. Overrated teams in top 10 seem to be MI, Penn St, and Ole Miss. I know some of you hate when I include ND with the ACC, but we do play around 5 games per year against them so THEIR ranking does matter when we play them. You HAVE to feel good that the ACC has 25% of its teams ranked in the top 40 preseason this year. That is really solid, as the SEC only has 30%. This means the league SHOULD be very competitive this year. You can see it by the increase in teams from 1 to 40.

Top 10
SEC - 4 teams in top 10 (That is crazy) - 40% of top 10 teams
Big 10 - 4 teams in top 10 (That is also crazy) - 40 % of top 10 teams
ACC - 1 team in top 10 - 10% of top 10 teams
Big 12 - 1 team in top 10 - 10% of top 10 teams

Top 25
SEC - 9 teams in top 25 (That is A LOT of ranked on ranked games) - 36%
Big 10 - 8 teams in top 25 (This is also a lot of ranked on ranked games) - 32%
ACC - 5 teams in top 25 (6 teams with ND since we play them). This gives the ACC a lot more chances of ranked on ranked opponents if these teams can stay in the top 25. (20%/24%)
Big 12 - 3 teams in top 25 (Not many chances for ranked on ranked teams) - 12%

Top 40
SEC - 12 teams in top 40 - 30%
ACC - 10 teams in top 40 (11 with ND) since we play them 5 to 6 games per year - 25%/27.5%
Big 10 - 10 teams in top 40 - 25%
Big 12 - 6 teams in top 40 - 15%
