Sorry, getting it out late this week - I know @Cris_Ard relies on this for the weekly forecast - I'll do better next week!
First, last week's results:
We outperformed on offense, which was very nice to see. Our defense had some mixed results but essentially finished just below par, but really slacked in points allowed. I think at this point in the season, despite our first game stage fright, our offense is LEGIT. Cade has been unleashed, meaning he's been given the freedom to take shots downfield and he's looking like his old Texas self. If we want to make any push in the playoffs our defense is going to need to form a new identity that it currently is missing.
But let's make the playoffs first, right? Just keep winning - but even so we need to win with some FLARE the rest of the way to overcome our shoddy schedule. Add to that our schedule is going to finally start to get a bit tough-ish now - seeing us face some dogs with the ability to bite. Four of the next five teams can best us on a bad day... if we can SQUASH some of these quality opponents - like in the 'glory days' - it will go far to convince us we can not only make the playoffs, but make a run.
We must overachieve against the computer projection to make that first statement:
This game really could go sour on us if we make mistakes. Louisville has faced better opponents - but they have lost against all three top foes (Miami, SMU and Notre Dame) BUT they lost each game by just one score and were not blown out in the stats department. Clemson has also faced just one good team (and lost) - though our offensive identity has emerged since that loss.
I would predict a score of 42-30 tomorrow.... but we must protect the ball. High hopes that the projection is smashed though and we finish with a 52-13 type of game. Then maybe we actually go UP in the polls Monday.
