Former President Trump is different for the USSS (as say former POTUS Clinton or Bush) as he is currently the front runner for the GOP nomination...among other “issues”.@24TIGER no political stuff here. Just curious what the process would be for getting a former President to an event like this from a security stand point. I’m assuming the secret service is there well in advance and dealing with logistics.
Also wondering how it differs for a sitting President. Seems like that would be even crazier.
Thanks for the response. I remember Marc Maron had President Obama on his podcast while he was still in office and he talked about all the security measures taken just for the President to visit his house for a couple of hours. Set up a secure phone and I think even traveled with a bathroom for him to use.Former President Trump is different for the USSS (as say former POTUS Clinton or Bush) as he is currently the front runner for the GOP nomination...among other “issues”.
Consequently, the advance work and preparation by the USSS and it’s state and local law enforcement partners would be very similar to a visit by POTUS Biden.
Former POTUS Trump’s detail would work with USSS Columbia Field Office to make this happen...with a large input from USSS Headquarters.
Rest assured that preliminary plans are already in place and are set to be activated.
The only saving grace is that Former POTUS Trump is not the current Commander in Chief, so the Military/Emergency Action Plan does not factor into the equation.
Hope that helps @dbjork6317 Thanks for asking.
