Ohio state fan here, some reason I have a Clemson subscription
Been evaluating the Ohio oline class, it's very strong for our standards this year. I'm not an an expert evaluator but here is my analysis on these 2, and Ben cogdon who luke visited.
Imo state of Ohio offensive line rankings would be.
1 Conroy (Oklahoma commit)
2 sam Greer
3 max Riley
4 guthrie
5 Several guys up for debate. , including Ben cogdon
Most services are very high on Guthrie
Riley - really like
goodbase; square and power on contact as a pulling guard. Shows upper power when locked on. looks like he understands angles and when to get off a double to go to the second level. Smart player. Feet, base, and athleticism appears would be a plus pass protector
sam guthrie - ol miami trace - i've been saying guthrie lacks technique, and looks gettable in the pass protection game and can get beat there, but lets not kid ourselves, this guy moves like a jumbo tight end, he does have some athleticism and power. moves his feet really fast straight ahead for that big body. needs to smooth out his game - not as natural as guys ahead of him at all. maybe a guard ? i can see a power run blocker
ben cogdon - ot 280, i would say he is a lighter, poor mans guthrie. worse run blocker better pass blocker. Right now he plays too frenetic for me, but has some nasty too him. could really add weight and develop with potential. thinking robert gallery
i would say luke has a type. guthrie and cogdon are similar players. also Guthrie and cogdon are very rural country school boys.
