Kirby Smart’s dad passed away. He had a bad fall and broke his hip before the Sugar Bowl. He had surgery on it but at his age it was always risky. Apparently the doctors told the family post-surgery they didn’t expect him to make it. My maternal grandmother passed away post broken hip surgery almost 5 years ago and my paternal grandmother fell recently (she only hurt some ribs). Can’t imagine coaching a game with that hanging over you
