McGonigal was informing Clinton of damaging information so she could "take the appropriate protection.”

McGonigal was the architect of Crossfire Hurricane, as he was the head of counterintelligence.

While the Russiagate binder mostly contains information we already had in some form, parts of it—like Andrew McCabe’s contemporaneous notes about his various interactions with Trump officials—serve as a timely reminder of the horrible people Trump was surrounded by in his first term.

Mike Pence’s actions were particularly egregious. It’s still shocking to reflect on the fact that on February 10, 2017, Pence carefully reviewed the transcript of @GenFlynn’s call with the Russian ambassador —before Flynn was fired—and that, incredibly, he either misunderstood or deliberately misread what Flynn actually said.

Flynn was falsely accused of discussing sanctions on the call—something he never did. We’ve known the truth since 2020, when @SidneyPowell1 finally forced DOJ to release the transcript. But Pence, looking at the exact same transcript in early 2017, somehow deluded himself into believing not only that Flynn discussed sanctions but that he initiated the topic. That’s a complete fabrication, totally untethered from what was actually said.

The part Pence was referring to shows Flynn discussing the expulsion of Russian diplomats—not sanctions. Those are two entirely different things. Flynn was never accused—let alone charged—with discussing expulsions and Pence should have known that. And if not Pence, then White House lawyers Don McGahn and John Eisenberg, or Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who all reviewed the transcript at the same time.

Even after all these years, it still feels surreal that it wasn’t the FBI, but Pence, who ultimately drove the knife into Flynn’s tenure as National Security Advisor.
