Made a post on Facebook looking for tickets to season opener for Hub City Spartanburgers baseball team this evening.
Several Facebook friends tagged other folks they knew who may have extra tickets.
Within a few minutes of the post, I receive a text for someone saying they were one of the people tagged in my post. I think nothing of them being a scammer (my mistake) and proceed to have text chat about the seat locations and such.
When it was time to pay the $100, I sent Zelle to the email address I was given. (I should have questioned why the Zelle recipient name wasn’t the same as the name I was given by the person who texted me, but I didn’t.)
Suffice it to say that after money was sent and I took screenshot of confirmation and sent that to the POS scammer…crickets.
I’m infuriated, embarrassed, and could pummel the lowlife that took me for a ride.
I’m assuming the cell phone number I received the text from is probably a burner or spoofed number and the email does me no good.
Any ethical hackers out there who can tell me what options, if any, I have? Zelle customer support was basically worthless.
