I understand TV almost entirely controls this but Clemson needs to do its level best to avoid playing anyone with a pulse in week 1 going forward. Hell, move the Charleston Southern game to 8/26 if we're forced to play at a conference foe on the road on Labor Day by ESPN/ACC.
You just never know where your team is going to be at that point and our reputation is being a somewhat slow starter as it is.
I've said this many times - most recently before we played UGA in 2021 - so not merely sour grapes over last night.
Consider the almost certain performance differences if this:
Clemson
9/4 at Duke
9/9 Charleston Southern
9/16 S. Florida
9/23 FSU
Duke
9/4 Clemson
9/9 Lafayette
9/16 Northwestern
9/23 at UConn
Had been instead this:
Clemson
9/2 Charleston Southern
9/9 at Duke
9/16 S. Florida
9/23 FSU
Duke
9/2 Lafayette
9/9 Clemson
9/16 Northwestern
9/23 at UConn
I get it, don't lose the opener (to whoever) whatever the case ... but we've come close to derailing some really good seasons with an opening loss before and actually did so last night and to a lesser degree in '21.
