Anyone seen this? Apparently S.C. Shrimpers Association is suing 40 Charleston Area establishments for falsely advertising that they have been selling "local" shrimp.
P&C posted an article about it last week where a study was conducted testing shrimp from 44 Charleston Area restaurants that found 40 of them were serving shrimp that had clearly been imported, even though they had advertised themselves serving local shrimp.
Pretty wild. The SCSA is now suing the 40 restaurants that were exposed in the tests, including suing for any loss of profits that may have resulted from the false advertising, with expectation of the restaurants compensating the shrimpers for those losses.
