People don’t know what the “big picture” means though...they live for the moment, the drama of it all...
The govt isn’t gonna forget how easy it was to lock us down though...& that’s the scary part of this whole ordeal.
That is actually just the opposite.
Social distancing is meant to SLOW the spread of the virus. Thus taking it LONGER for everyone to get exposed and for the citizens to develop herd immunity.
The action the government is taking is going to prolong the spread and all associated problems.
Social distancing and quarantine efforts, etc, are meant to protect the health care system from getting overrun. It is not to protect us.
If you want the virus to go away quickly you either vaccinate so there are no more hosts it can attack; or everyone gets exposed and then there are no more hosts it can attack.
In a vacuum everyone gets exposed and either develops immunity or gets sick (and gets treatment). But countries can’t handle the amount of sick at one time. Thus “flatten the curve”. Protects health care system, but also drags this out longer and longer.
This is all being based on lies. 10 & 40 + days of stats that show exponential growth ending are being ignored. See graphs

two very positive 10+ day trends in these graphs:
Graph 1 is a clear down turn over the last tens days of new cases in the USA. The graph is clearly curling downward. This is a clear sign exponential growth is coming to an end in the USA
Graph 2 is a clear sign that exponential growth has declined in rest of the world even when you remove China from the data. This has happened over the last 40 days and it should drop below 1.0 permanently within a week if the trend continues. That will be the end of exponential growth.
Looks like Trump has learned to not waste a good crisis from the Democrats. Smart man.

Lighthouse Marina on Murray was like the 4th of July Sunday. Marinas like that is what needs to be broken up. Not regular boat ramps. Then just rely on DNR to break up groups.
The government has the majority of Americans contained at their homes and millions of small businesses are going to be purposely folded, and anyone who expresses concern over the overreach and eroding of civil liberties is conspiratorial in nature according to people like this. I have never delved into conspiracy theories on this board one time, but if you don’t consider this a concern over civil liberties, then it proves you have no threshold and will blindly listen to the government as a good little sheep.
again, There is nothing “tin foil” or outlandish that I posted. Civil Liberties should absolutely be a concern right now, and not one small business owner I know is more concerned about the virus than they are losing their livelihood. It’s impossible to have a conversation with people who constantly misrepresent what people say on this board just because they disagree.
You’re right, destroying the economy and locking people into their homes isn’t unprecedented, and all small business owners are more concerned with the virus than financial collapse. Unreal what you guys call conspiratorial, sheep will sheep.

If we had done nothing and everybody in the US got the viral infection then our population would go from 330 million to maybe 328 million and the economy would likely be robust. But it would suck for you and your family if you die. Of course even then not everyone would be infected.
If we do what we are doing the population would drop from 330 million to 329 million to 329.8 if all goes well. And the economy is devastated, permanently in some ways. Still sucks for you and your family if you are a mortality. Just fewer of them.
There may be no middle ground. In other words partial means may be no good at all.
I don’t know the correct path. But I know the path we are asked to take. So I’m all in with what we are being asked to do.

I’m talking about public beaches not your boat. Did you see the public beaches last weekend?

I guess they are stretched thin making sure everyone has their turkey tags in their pocket and not on the dash of their truck.
