The supreme courts job is not to be activist, you are correct. However, here we are about to confirm a job who sounded like Hannity/Carlson in his statement yesterday. It’s absurd.

I don’t need the government to spoon feed me, quite the opposite.

I just believe in moving forward and always striving for progress. Unsurprisingly, most of this country does not believe in progress, and thinks keeping us in the dark ages is a recipe for success.
He isn’t going to get voted in. Trump will nominate that Notre Dame woman after. Like he should have before. I just assume the current guy committed to side with Trump on Russia.

So you would prefer Socialism?? You are smart enough to know that’s where the Dems are headed right?
I do not prefer socialism. Democratic ideals pushed to an extreme results in socialism. Republican ideals pushed to an extreme results in a complete disaster where only the rich can survive. With what’s going on we are heading towards the latter. Fortunately I am going to be marrying a rich girl.

I’m sorry all your free stuff got taken away. Luckily your President is adding jobs to this country like hot cakes. Pick one.

You don't want to be spoon fed by the government yet you align yourself with a party that advocates big government

I Am honestly embarrassed that OP is a Clemson fan. When you move to Spain please switch to soccer and get a shock blanket to protect you from all the adversity out there.

Its actually more embarrassing. He somehow holds a degree from Clemson University. That is what is truly horrible. To willingly open your mouth and display how ignorant you are is pathetic and definitely well below a Clemson alum.

Agreed. What a disappointment.

When a far right Supreme Court turns back the clock and destroys this country? Do we blame the libs?

I for one welcome this. We need more guns in the streets, more babies with unfit parents, and absolutely zero immigration. The wage gap certainly needs to increase, and healthcare is currently way too cheap.

Basically, if you can’t afford to provide for yourself, you don’t deserve to live in the US.

For any posters that stand to be negatively affected by future policies (which stands to be most of y’all) I feel for you, I really do. But for those that think what’s happening is great and then get mad when what you voted for screws you over, I feel no sympathy for you.

Good luck to everyone for the next 40 years or so, we will all need it
Put stock in Kimberly-Clark you'll make a fortune.

The guy that sexually assaulted someone? Unless you want to blame a rape victim
Son ... evidence and proof matters. A society that condemns and sentences citizens on accusations without due process is NOT a society you want to live in.

Shoot, in some countries you can be retried for a crime that you were already found not guilty of. See the Heather Knox case.

You, like most millennials, take your constitutional rights for granted.

I am shocked you reeled in so many with this one.

Jesus Christ I'm so tired of this "innocent until proven guilty" misrepresentation. If this guy wasn't famous but had the same allegations none of you would let him coach your kid's soccer team. But somehow he's fit to be a Supreme Court Justice? This is not a criminal proceeding, it's a job interview.

Listen, I don't think that a simple allegation should derail the guy. I think they should subpoena the other guy in the room and have him testify in the same setting that the others did. Ford's written statements weren't considered enough and she had to testify before the committee. The same standard should apply to other witnesses. It just really seems like the majority on the committee isn't interested in actually getting to the truth; only in appearing like they tried.

As it stands, we know Kavanaugh has lied about his drinking and his yearbook which would both speak to a pattern of behavior of someone who might do something like this. I personally find Fords testimony more compelling but it sure would be nice if the committee was willing to make it more than a "he said she said" when it's 100% within their power to do so.

Total propaganda and everything you say only benefits the wealthy. Ask a working poor person how much stocks doing well means to them.
i mean my 401k has seen an upturn. i assume most working ppl in upper 30’s who contribute to retirement that’s not invested in a vanguard has seen improvements. what is it that you are holding on to?

See you in the dystopia this country is becoming, thanks to the horribly uneducated southeast and Rust belt. Quite literally, a country of idiots have given us this administration, and now they have to pay for it, along with the smart people. It’s saddening.

Have you learned nothing the last 24 months? If this isn’t a troll, then it’s astonishing. People that fail to see merit of points, planks, and policies outside the bounds of political partisanship are the issue in this country. Regardless of party affiliation, if you willingly condemn the viewpoints of the other side of the aisle wholesale, you are the problem. Your petulance, ignorance, and unwillingness to talk and work toward progress are regressive and asinine.

BooHoo!!!! He had beers in high school and made 16-year old jokes in his yearbook. Give me a break.

My 401K is rocking, my healthcare costs have dropped dramatically, and the value of my home and rental property are great! My rental property is almost back to what I paid for it before the crash.

I don’t hold Jon’s opinions against him. He is a fresh out of school kid who still has the warped BS teachings of his insane SJW and Gender Identity Politics Pop professors fresh in his young brain.

for the record he could coach my kids team. also he would be able to as the background check us coaches go through isn't near the FBI background checks Kavanaugh has already been through.

I dunno man, I do think Obama should have been allowed to nominate a justice. I think Garland would have been a fine justice. I think Gorsuch was an excellent pick by Trump. I listened to Kavanaugh during the first hearing and thought he was a good pick, but after yesterday I am thinking I would like to see some other options. I'm not saying I believe he did or didn't do any of these things, and I find this to be a strange hill to die on for democrats, but... I think this is a case of "where there is smoke there is fire". Just too many stories and people have come forward for me to believe it is all some crazy conspiracy.

Innocent until proven guilty. You too smart to understand that? There is no rape victim here. She didn't even claim rape. She's claiming he tried.

How smart do you have to be to not even understand your own position?
First of all, I'm not sure I would stake my position on whether a rape was successful. Secondly, innocent until proven guilty is for the court of law, not the court of public opinion.

Trump is cutting taxes and increasing spending, you realize that isn't sustainable? He is borrowing a lot of money from China and other foreign powers to grow your 401k. Anyone can finance of good economy at the cost of a poor one later. Keep kicking that can down the road, I'm sure your children will thank you.

My position is this woman doesn't know when or where an alleged attempt at rape took place. She can't remember who was there and anyone she's named has said they weren't there or it didn't happen.

For it to be rape, it would have to be successful. The law is on my side on that one.

I don't want Supreme Court justices that pass the court of public opinion. The court of public opinion is why Rome fell. I don't want the US to fall.

How hard is it to see the reality in this and understand it and admit it?

Sounds like you have a good amount of wealth. You do realize you’re going to be just fine regardless of policy? Tell someone who can’t afford stock how great all that is

I'm just gonna walk away from this conversation as the one of us that thinks attempted rape and actual rape don't necessarily need a distinction in this instance. I'm not putting the man in prison, I am judging his nobility.

I'll avoid the obvious paradox of how she can't remember anyone who was there, and all the people she remembered were there....

If that helps you, ok. Maybe one day you can see things for what they are and be able to admit it, even if its not what you want.

I already did this when I supported Trump to my family and friends early in 2015 and then saw things for what they were and admitted it even though it wasn't what I wanted.

Ummm... Do you have proof? Innocent until proven guilty ring a bell?? I forgot, libs want to tear down every principle America was built on so it doesn't work that way in your world...

It’s hilarious seeing the Blue Lives Matter crowd in here preaching “innocent until proven guilty”.

You are referring to a lot of short term indicators. It is strange that all of the republicans who were budget hawks during Obama’s term have no problem with the interest on our national debt now exceeding $1trillion a year.

Also, I think the long term impact that the OP is referring to relates to Roe v Wade. If it is overturned at the federal level, it will become a states issue. The southern states will undoubtedly make abortion illegal. That means that in about 15 to 20 years, the crime rates in those states are going to skyrocket.

far be it from me to tell one person how think, but generally curious what’s more valuable? following a moral compass or hoping to watch the nation benefit economically?

Incredible. You don’t believe this do you? Does the single mom that can’t make ends meet need to tighten up?
Provide the name of one person who has made good decisions with money and is still poor.

You’re still young. I’m sure we both will be on this board when you grow up. The further you get away from your professors ridiculous ramblings the clearer reality will become.

I depends very much on the party of the person making the decision the party of the person judging.
