I'll only grab a few stats, but please feel free to add.
NOTRE DAME OFFENSE
ND has the #11 offense in terms of total yards, more than teams like Oregon, UCLA, Texas Tech, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, etc.
- Points per game they are# 21 at 41 PPG
- Passing offense they are # 47 with 250 yds a game.
- Rushing offense they are # 6 with 285 yds a game.
NOTRE DAME DEFENSE
ND has the #52 ranked D in terms of total yards
- Points per game allowed, they are #40 at 19.8
- Passing defense they are # 55 at 204 yds per game allowed
- Rushing defense they are # 46 at 137 yds per game allowed
CLEMSON OFFENSE
Clemson has the #58 offense in terms of total yards
- Points per game they are# 35 at 36.7 PPG
- Passing offense they are # 46 with 254 yds a game.
- Rushing offense they are # 58 with 188 yds a game.
CLEMSON DEFENSE
Clemson has the #4 ranked D in terms of total yards
- Points per game allowed, they are #11 at 12.3
- Passing defense they are # 12 at 146 yds per game allowed
- Rushing defense they are # 30 at 115 yds per game allowed
A few interesting stats....We'll see the #11 offense in ND against the #4 defense in Clemson, vs Clemson's #58 offense facing ND's #52 ranked defense. That could be a wash as both teams face the other's strength....both teams present a better defense statistically speaking than the opposing team's offense. This game will come down to special teams and turnovers.
Also, In all fairness I should point out that Clemson's stats are a little skewed IMO , as most of that came against Wofford and Appalachian St. The game vs ND SHOULD provide the toughest challenge yet. Clemson's worst offensive output actually came vs Louisville from a yards and points standpoint.
Notre Dame almost crapped the bed vs Virginia so I'll consider that a wash as well.
I still don't know what Clemson is other than a good defensive team. ND we know they like to run, and go for the big pass here or there. It'll happen a few times during the game for sure.
I''ll consider both KO return units a wash. I know you guys are at the bottom of the ranking there, but we're not dangerous there unless we put Sanders in. On punts Sanders does the returning, and we average about 15 per return, and already have a TD so I'm hoping that this will be a factor.
Tackles for loss, Clemson gets about 9 a game, ND 7...so they are both disruptive there and Clemson allows a 3rd down conversion about 20 percent of the time, to ND's 26.
