“Sit Your Ass Back Down” – Rep. Nancy Mace Smacks Down Former SC Rep. Trey Gowdy Over Benghazi Fumble After He Decries McCarthy Ouster and Attacks Matt Gaetz and Mace (VIDEO)
by Jordan Conradson Dec. 20, 2024 7:30 am
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) slammed Former South Carolina Congressman and Fox News contributor Trey Gowdy Thursday night after he attacked her over her vote on the government funding bill during his appearance on Bret Baier’s Special Report.
Gowdy appeared on Baier’s panel last night as the House voted on the American Relief Act of 2024 and said House Republicans, “never should have gotten rid of Kevin [McCarthy].” He then attacked former Trump Attorney General Nominee Matt Gaetz for leading the effort to oust McCarthy and Nancy Mace for voting against the bill.
Gowdy: It’s not Mike Johnson’s fault. I mean, he’s got a dysfunctional family. Mike Johnson is not dysfunctional, but several of his family members happen to be. They never should have gotten rid of Kevin, Bret. I mean, this all goes back to what was your plan when you got rid of McCarthy? They said they were going to cut spending. They said they were going to do this.
The guy that instigated it he’s out there singing Happy Birthday to 17-year-olds on Cameo. So, I mean, what was their plan when they got rid of Kevin McCarthy? So no, it’s not Mike Johnson’s fault. 30-something people— Nancy Mace would not be in the House if it weren’t for Donald Trump, and she can’t vote the way that he asked her to today? I hope he’s got as long a memory for House members as he does Senators that even threaten to not support one of his nominees. That’s what I hope his memory is good.
One would think Gowdy learned his lesson the last time he attacked Gaetz, a MAGA favorite. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that the Federalist’s Molly Hemmingway eviscerated Gowdy on Baer’s Special Report after he called Gaetz’s Attorney General nomination “dumbfounding” and smeared Gaetz as “corrupt.”
Once highly respected, former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy has proven to be an abject disappointment, particularly when it comes to spewing asinine rhetoric as a Fox News contributor against President Trump and his allies.

Nancy Mace didn't let him slide for his latest attacks.
"You let Hillary Clinton off the hook for Benghazi. Sit your ass back down," Mace said on X last night.
It can be recalled that Gowdy previously chaired the House committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi terror attack. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her attorney, David Kendall, were caught lying to the committee when they claimed that Clinton only used one private email account during her tenure as secretary. Still, nothing happened, and no criminal referrals were made. Four Americans died who were left stranded by Clinton and Barack Obama on 9-11 in Benghazi.
Gaetz also slammed Gowdy last year over the "clown show" Benghazi investigations after Gowdy rushed to McCarthy's defense and condemned MAGA Republicans during the initial speaker election last January.
Gaetz responded to Mace's post, saying, "True!"
Mace, who made waves last month with her victorious fight to keep biological men out of women's restrooms on Capitol Hill, trolled Gowdy in epic fashion in another X post. "Which bathroom do we think Trey Gowdy uses?" Mace said, posting a photo of Gowdy, who resembles the crazed America-hating lesbian soccer player Megan Rapinoe.
Mace was one of the 38 Republicans and Trump allies who voted against the Trump-backed government funding bill on Thursday. Mace joined Jesse Watters Primetime and explained that she voted against the bill because "the CR tonight spent the same exact amount of money today as it did in the one yesterday." She continued, "I don't want to continue Joe Biden levels of spending months into Trump's presidency."
