****Summerville man dies after detonating firework on his head

Folks, be careful out there. RIP to the guy, but it really shouldn't be this hard to be safe.

Reports say when police arrived, a male was lying in the roadway.

The man was identified as 41-year-old Allen Ray Mcgrew.

The Coroner says McGrew set off a large firework on his head.

McGrew’s wife told investigators they were having a block party, and McGrew had started drinking at around 6 p.m.

His wife says she thinks he was putting the fireworks on his head to "show off," according to the incident report.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s office says the device exploded on top of his head, causing massive injuries, and McGrew was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:10 p.m.
