Wait, I thought you were going to give me proof that Biden abused his powers in order to enrich his family through illegal business dealings with Communist China, which now makes him a puppet, even though there is zero evidence of that? Or are you just throwing a bunch of shit against the wall because you heard those implications from people on the Right who want you to believe that's true, so you can morally justify your choice to pull the lever for the most abysmal human being who's ever run for office? I mean, if they're both the same, you can feel good about voting for your tyrant, right? Bottom line, show me proof, not innuendo, and we'll have a discussion - otherwise, you've been duped.Certainly it wasn't what you glean from our current state of affairs. dpic73, I am not going to get into a war of words with you if you don't see the unacceptable actions of the Biden administration,. Let's do this - tell me the reason you are a Biden supporter and what it is about the Democrat party that makes you want to support them. What are your core beliefs?
I am a Biden supporter not because I think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but because he much more reflects my values than the only other option we had in the general. I don't go to Biden rallies, wear a Biden hat, fly a Biden flag or snuggle with a stuffed Biden bear. I don't worship Biden but he's a good man who believes in democracy, science and I believe he cares about all people and wants to ensure that everyone has access to good healthcare, a good education and every opportunity to have a successful, fulfilling life. Do I think he's perfect? No I do not and he wouldn't be my first choice for President if I had my pick, but he is who we got, I like him and he's the President, so therefore I support him.
As far as why I'm a liberal, for me I see it as the only choice based on what I've seen and experienced from a very young age. I grew up in a Republican household in a red state so I know what I'm talking about Here are some random thoughts:
- Not all Republicans are racist but almost all racists are Republican. I've seen that up close and personal and it's ugly and frightening how cruel people can be to others they see as lesser than them. I want no part of that.
- Not all Republicans are phobes but almost all phobes are Republican. From a young age I've witnessed family members and Republican officials spew hatred, discriminate against and demonize anyone who wasn't a hetero white Christian and it was disgusting. I believe people should be able to marry whoever they want, serve in the military if they choose and have every opportunity that anyone else has, regardless if they are gay, straight, trans, brown or green. I want the government to stay out of people's personal lives - period.
- I want people to have control over their own bodies, including women's reproductive health. Your government should not have control over the medical procedures you choose. I want freedom for everyone to do what's best for them without interference. Republicans want control of everyone else's choices and I oppose that vigorously.
- Not all Republicans are conspiracy theorists but almost all conspiracy theorists are Republican. From Obama was a secret Muslim to Democrats are running a secret child pedophilia ring and drinking the blood of children to believing in widespread voter fraud with no evidence to support it. Taken to it's most extreme you end up with groups like QAnon who believe all these things and other insane conspiracies like JFK Jr. is coming back to be Trump's running mate. They even gathered in Dallas(twice!) to witness his emergence from the grave. It's just fvcking insanity and I want no part of it.
- Liberals are better at stimulating the economy. It’s not a coincidence that, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 41 million jobs were created during the 20 years of the last 3 Democratic Presidents (Carter, Clinton and Obama) and only half that many (21 million) jobs during the 20 years of the last 3 Republican presidencies before Trump (Reagan, Bush and Bush). Putting more money in the hands of the middle class has been proven to stimulate the economy better than tax cuts for the rich and that has repeatedly been proven as the Republican tax cuts have added to the deficit more than any other governmental policy. Trickle down economics do not work...
- I believe we need much stricter gun control to end this slaughterfest that only this country experiences. Republicans do not. I believe the main reason Republicans oppose it is because they have this doomsday fantasy that the government is coming for them and they'll need to be massively armed to repel the attack on their freedoms, lol. As far as the politicians, they are in the pocket of the NRA so they have sold their souls for financial gain. It's sickening that comes before lives but that's where we are as a country.
- Republicans distrust government and want to destroy it from the inside out, but I believe that government has a bigger and more important role in society and is mostly needed for future innovation, new industries, addressing climate change, pandemics etc... while Republicans are mired in stale culture wars because they fear change and progress. Basically, I don't trust Republicans to do what's right for the majority of people, so destroying government would only give them more power to do what's wrong.
- Republicans are enamored with authoritarian types like Trump and DeSantis who spread doom, gloom, lies and fear in order to control their subjects. Democrats are more optimistic and generally more decent human beings who are opposed to this kind of negative oppression. They believe people should be able to read what they want, learn the truth about history and are far more open minded about all subjects, which I agree with wholeheartedly. Republicans want to control your mind - Democrats do not.
- It's no coincidence that the most liberal countries in the world are also the happiest, for instance the Nordic countries, Switzerland, Denmark and the Netherlands. The most conservative countries are the least happy, for example Iran, Mali and Yemen. Ask yourself, would you prefer to live in Switzerland or Iran? Seems like a pretty easy choice to me.
I could go on but I'm tired of typing so just to wrap it up, I see no reason at all why I'd ever want to be a Republican, especially now while that party is darker and dumber than ever.
I hope that answers your question
