Taking my talents to the big apple

Just accepted a job offer in the NYC metro as a district retail director. Job is officially in NJ but part of the metro. COL obviously skyrocketing but they gave me a great offer I couldn’t turn down.

Any other board members live in the area?
Congratulations! Very happy for you. You've been on the move in recent years.

Now we're going to come to you for NYC restaurant recommendations.

Godspeed, good sir, and the best luck I can give you. I hope they have your base in the low to mid 2 Huns, you will need every penny to find something in a decent area. Then there is the threat of Bernie Sanders Jr running for mayor who will tax your check after the feds around 60%

NYC is a fun adventure. Like New Orleans, Memphis, Vegas, and LA; the excitement is in the risk of walking around and not getting needled, swindled, or mugged. I put on my Mike Tyson slap on head tattoo to help deter the threat.

Congrats, and best of luck to you, sir.

Been there a few times (our primary data center was in Paramus, NJ). Never had any desire to move there, but most of my trips were in the 90's, early 00's.

Based on that, I'd just say....stay low, keep moving.

I'm up here in Bergen County! After growing up in Anderson I've lived here for just over 20 years. I assume if the job is in NJ you'll be living in NJ?
I've always said that I truly love it here...it's expensive of course, but a great place to live. Quick access to NYC, tons of great restaurants and things to do, you're a quick drive to the beach, a quick drive to the mountains, apple picking and leaves on the fall, etc. Here in northern NJ you're like a 45 minute drive to some decent skiing in the winter and a couple hour drive from some great skiing in VT, which helps make up for the fact that golf season generally ends in late October and doesn't pick back up until March if you're lucky. Also, incredible golf in the area even if much of it is private.
Anyhow, welcome!

Bergen county as well. NJ gets a ton of $hit but it’s awesome for all the reasons you mentioned

Always fun to me as someone who lives in NYC to hear about what it’s like from people who maybe visited once a long time ago.
I just got back from visiting NYC last weekend for the first time. It was stimulation overload for me. Took my son to Fanatics Fest at the Javits Center and had a blast. We stayed at the Midtown Hilton and it was perfect location.
