In 1953, Mickey Mantle launched a 565’ Home Run vs The Washington Senators. That’s equal to 188 yards. Nearly two football fields. Hard to believe that anyone could hit a baseball that damn far! He was later in the season presented with a 600’ tape measure. That’s how the term “Tape Measure Home Run” came about. Besides Mantle’s Home Run ability he was also timed at 3.1 seconds from home plate to first base.
