Can someone please kindly explain to me the rule? I actually know the rule but why? Said it was a dead ball foul after the play was over so Duke gets ball. How is it any different than a late hit when the player runs out of bounds? Play is over when player steps out of bounds but it’s a 15 yard penalty and automatic 1st down. What’s the difference? Duke was rewarded for targeting last night. Terrible rule when we don’t retain ball there.
