Let's turn back the time on these hypocrites, specifically Pelosi, Bernie and Chuckie.

Yes. Clinton era Dems, labor in particular, was and still is a fan of protectionism.

Just like the Republican party, at the same time the Democrats were arguing for protectionism, were advocating for free markets.

That's changed for both sides with Republicans advocating for big government protectionism while Democrats make the free market argument.

It's hypocrisy from the Dems but is a smart policy shift from the Republicans? You don't see the hypocrisy in that?

When you raise prices on everything all at once with no plan to build infrastructure. You aren't doing what dems proposed

This is what I mean when I say in other threads that Trump is basically a 90’s democrat.

I think Trump is advocating for free trade. He is arguing that the status quo has been anything but free. He may not be, he may be negotiating to have tariffs to access our markets. However, we don’t know yet. We will see the first country that offers true free trade and see how he responds. Perhaps the first to negotiate gets the best deal.

I admit it’s a very risky strategy. I do think we were approaching dire straits and change was needed.

I also think the “resist” at all cost and the lies meant to retard him, have just reinforced his push to rip the band aid off. He knows no one will cooperate with and they have proven they are willing to g to break laws to slow him down.

They came for the king and they missed. And now Trump will remind them of their love for him. He got shot, he has zero ****s left to give.

I’d suggest people start adjusting. It’s going to get worse before it gets better

Dems had 12 of last 16 years to propose whatever they wanted.

There is a segment of the population that wants to practice revisionist history too. That is not good either
You mean like the revisionist history that Trump campaigned on driving the stock market into the ditch and blasting untargeted tariffs to cause long term pain for our own good years down the road? We are going to magically bring back manufacturing by punishing other countries with no investment or plan here. Hell lets tariff a good like coffee that we have no way of making here just to make it more expensive as punishment for something, a trade imbalance I guess. People thought prices were too high, that is about the only thing we probably agree on. He said he would enact policies to lower prices on day 1. This will certainly do the opposite. At least he stopped the Ukraine war on day 1 like he promised.

Will you at least acknowledge that, to date, prices have come down across the board? So far he has kept his promise. Truflation.com, take a look for yourself.

I agree prices will rise, I do not know for how long or how much. Doge has done a tremendous job of cutting waste and fraud and that is deflationary.

Considering that inflation reached its highest point in 50 years and democrats STILL WANTED TO PASS BBB, I find their concerns disingenuous. You are worried about what “may” happen when the people making those predictions have been so wrong in the past. The same ones saying it will fail are the same ones that got us in the position we are in now. And they just got voted out aka FIRED.

The faster people understand he isn’t bluffing and start producing here in USA, is when prices come down.

Please acknowledge these facts. 1) so far prices have unequivocally come down during this term 2) You have no idea how much prices will rise. They may rise, yet STILL be under the levels of inflation of the Biden admin.

It’s way too early for judgement day. The market will react and will remain volatile.

and they never created such a self afflicted problem like this

I don’t see a PROBLEM

I SEE A SOLUTION

SAYS THE ONE EYED MAN TO THE BLIND

TRUMP IS TAKING GENIUS APPROACH

DO EVERY DAM THING HE PROMISED IN FIRST 100 DAYS HE IS IN OFFICE

GO TRUMP I AM BACKING YOU 1000% PER CENT ALL THE WAY

AN ECONOMIC GAME OF CHICKEN THE US WILL WIN

grandpa, shhhhhhhhhh take your pills, go to bed.
My grandfather, god rest his soul, fought in ww2 and was a teacher and principal in south carolina, he had enough sense, to not argue with people on topics he knew nothing about. As a boomer, you obviously missed this lesson. My father, who is your age or older, would laugh in your face for being such an ignorant idiot and for capitalizing everything you type. He's a boomer, successful and somehow he's not acting like a fool on the internet.

Your best solution here, is that these tariffs are temporary. Otherwise your grand kids aint going to be able to buy a house.

Can kids buy houses now? Isnt that the gripe with bidenomics? Housing was unaffordable? Among other things.

The rest of the world can work with each other to continue trading. The US can’t do it alone. The rest of the world doesn’t need us. If the rest of the world figures that out then we will be on the outside looking in for a very, very, very long time

You have convinced me. The rest of the world will abdicate the largest consumer market in the world and teach us.........NOT!!!

So, this author brings up something from Pelosi’s past that looks accurate.

First off…can we agree that politicians change their stance on a topic quicker than a chameleon can change colors?

Now…on to context. This piece from Pelosi clearly is focused on China. If this was the ONLY thing Trump did was put tariffs on China, the financial markets could deal with that. However, he did it to every country we trade with globally. He put a 10% tariff on Australia, when they didn’t have any tariffs of U.S. goods going there.

His hap hazard approach to this whole thing is what is melting down financial global markets and our 401ks. Will it all come back? No one knows…that creates uncertainty. Financial markets hate uncertainty.

So, get ready for a roller coaster with your money.

What Trump is doing is protectionism. He doesn’t care about free markets. He also claims this is to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. That could take years for manufacturing to come back to U.S. If and when it does, the things we get for cheap from other countries will cost a lot more.

Your last statement is the most honest thing I have seen you post. I appreciate that.

It will suck.

That doesn’t answer my question. What are key things that the us can only provide or providers better than everyone else?
Never said that what we make can't be produced in other places. This is about giving American products access to other nations consumer bases. America is still the top consumer market in the world and all nations badly want access to it thus giving it value that President Trump can leverage to get fair trade deals.

As usual, you are wrong. The rest of the world DOES need the U.S..

Hey loser the world is coming to America

Maybe you need to claim a new mother land

Only a profoundly retarded person would be defending any of this, so it's no surprise to see who started this thread. Perhaps you nazis can all put maxi pads on your 401k balance sheets instead of your ears this time.

Not only that, the Dems in that era had FULL CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL for those tariffs. Clinton didn't unilaterally impose them as a political weapon.

Y'all, we're dealing with a level of stupidity amongst magas that is so profound, cavemen would point and laugh at them.

Tariffs = free trade. I want more of this economics lesson. Do you have a YouTube channel?

Yeah, you should check it out. www.2girls1cup.com

They explain how other countries tariffing us, yet we don't tariff them creates an uneven playing field. It's a very basic concept and they do a great job of explaining it.
Already had that bookmarked.

But you still didn’t mention how free trade works in that well educated response. Thanks.
