There is no bigger detriment to the advancement of our species than religion.
So, you put your faith in man? You, sir, are taking a far greater leap of faith than I am willing to take. You must have a better plan for obtaining peace and salvation. I sincerely hope it works out for you.
If I can anticipate your retort, I suspect you'll contend that you put faith in no one (which would be an even greater leap of faith, if it were true--it's not*), that you have no hope for peace and salvation. If so, then that is tragic.
(*) Note that hope and faith are synonyms, empty hope is foolish, and the absence of hope is death.
Dum spiro spero...if while [you] breathe, [you] hope, then to exist is to have faith.
I am fascinated by science. I love it and study it across various disciplines purely as a hobby (or obsession). You might conclude that every day I "
question with boldness even the existence of a god"--and you'd be correct. By man's own definition of the laws of science, something cannot arise out of nothing. From the classical cosmological models to the newer Standard Model of Particle Physics to the thus far elusive Grand Unified Theory, nothing is able to capture a theory of existence. Einstein's General Theory of Relativity perhaps comes closest when it broaches the topic of a singularity--the singularity being a single point in spacetime of zero volume from which all the mater of the universe is thought to have originated. So, what some refer to as The Singularity, I refer to as The Author, The Creator, Yahweh, Elohim, Adonai, El Shaddai, Abba Father, the Alpha and the Omega, the Great I AM, God. I aim to follow His plan for my salvation laid out in His Holy Scripture. But it is just an aim. I am but a man, so I am bound to miss wildly. It is by the redeeming blood of the living God that I find real and everlasting peace. It is available to me wherever I go. Even here on Earth.
