Traded Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, Luis Avilan, and the top prospect in the organization Jose Peraza to the Dodgers for 30 year old Cuban defector 2B/3B prospect Hector Olivera and 2 minor league pitchers that were near the bottom of the Dodgers organization. The Dodgers paid $62.5 million for Olivera last year and the Braves would owe $22 million to Olivera through 2020. Olivera may be older than 30 and although he was hitting .348 in AA/AAA this year, he might need Tommy John surgery and has a blood disorder. He's got a hamstring problem too. Wood was only making $520,000, wasn't eligible for arbitration until 2017 and wouldn't be a FA until 2020.
What is John Hart doing? Wood was a very solid young lefty, which is so rare and Banuelos just went on the DL with bone spurs. Should have dumped Teheran instead, but I doubt anyone wants him. Supposed to be building for the move in 2017 and make a move like this?!?!?!
Did Frank Wren possess the body of John Hart?
HOLY SH*T.
