They just let the Nationals bend them over and have their way with them. The leader of the Nats comeback victories? None other than the great Dan Uggla. How could their pitchers throw pitches that one of the worst hitters in the history of baseball could hit and hit hard? The Braves have always rode on the back of pitching and defense, but as of now those are their weaknesses. Pitchers are pitching up and down the middle and the defense can't catch a cold. Recipes for disaster.
I understand them wanting to rebuild, but couldn't they at least be competitive? 70-92 is my guess. Their top two pitchers, Wood and Teheran both have high ERAs and the Braves have given up the second most walks in the NL. Including lots of walks to lead off innings. Looks like Simmons dirty slide [and yes, it was dirty] woke up the Nationals. If Escobar had not been injured by that slide and unable to play, Uggla's not even in the games.
It's gonna be a long summer for us Braves fans. With Jace Peterson as your second baseman, Eric Young as your CF and Kelly Johnson as your LF, what can we expect. Hurry up and get here college football.
