The California wildfires.....

Another moron who doesn’t believe in science. Would love to build a wall around Mississippi and let all you idiots build your own society. You would be dead within years.

Sounds like you're describing California. The tinder pile has been building for decades out there, not just a few years. If you actually considered the science of forestry you'd already be familiar with the discussion. But carry on with your scientistic, ignorant preening. Darwin award may soon be awarded to an entire state out there, for their near-100% man-made disaster.

I originally thought this would be a boring thread.

I was wrong.

I also don’t understand the attack on PG&E. I haven’t read that it’s proven their equipment caused the fire. Certainly needs root cause analysis to determine the causal factors.

If those GD tree hugging dumbasses adhered to common sense forestry growth, there wouldn't be a problem. When you outlaw controlled burns because of " pollution" and end up with what they have now, you're a fvcking bunch of Looney tunes environmentalists.

How's preventing that "pollution" working for you libtards now?
Native North American people even knew that burning was good for their crops and wildlife.

And what does he even mean? Mississippians couldn’t function, or what? He might be right, but they don’t seem to have a problem breeding amongst themselves which means their population likely wouldn’t suffer, so I’m not sure where he’s going here...

@VeniceTiger ?
Those who don’t believe in science and feel like climate change is a hoax made up by the Chinese. They can live in there own state and have a toxic water supply with all kinds of health issues from pesticides, GM crops, and pollutants. It should only take a generation or two at most for them to be dead.

But why Mississippi?

Who do we blame for these damn hurricanes? I know it's got to be somebody's fault. This kind of shit doesn't just "happen."

Sounds like he believes in the science surrounding controlled burns, no?

The question seems to be in this case "Did perennial blind squirrel Trump find a nut?" It's pretty clear he was just chunking raw meat at the most easily het-up of his constituency by blaming mostly liberal California for its own woes and getting a double benefit from deflecting the story away from climate change.

There is a fairly large kernel of truth to the controlled burn issue, which tells me clearly that Trump did not think this up out of his own enormous(ly flawed) brain. He was fed this by the Koch's or some such. Truth is that controlled burning (though "control" can be problematic) would help the situation. It's also true that the shift to the impossible "stop all fires" from one of "limit the damage" has made the situation worse. Controlled burning is without much doubt a good idea but without controlling global climate change, the controlled burning will just amount to a bigger Band-Aid than the one we're using now.

The point another poster made is worth repeating here. If you redo all the regulations and allow for the most aggressive burn policy imaginable, most of the land involved is federal land and we're talking millions of acres and there's no money in the budget for old projects much less massive new ones.

And even if the funds were there, I'd be willing to bet the OP would burst every blood vessel in his body if he thought a penny of his taxes was going to help California.

But regardless, global warming is the real enemy and will continue to be so as long as about forty percent of all Americans think basic science is a vast left-wing conspiracy. It doesn't create all the weather driven problems- it creates some but mainly it just makes whatever we have worse.

Wall of words about a wall of worry. Build the wall, build the wall - around Mississippi or California?

They've released 2 SEC reports about it accepting responsibility.

I’m a 6 lunch before I drop the drawers (trade secrets) kinda guy. Sound like OP got played a little.

ISIS warned us 5 years ago they would start wildfires.
