Futures just opened for Monday and down close to 5%. What a bloodbath this week is shaping up for. Pretty sure we’ll see some big funds blow up this week.

WTI oil will hit $30 this week after Russia/Saudi pumpathon fight. OIL -30% in the premarket - WOW.

Could we see 2,500 on the S&P? Is this capitulation? When this is all over the deals available will be incredible, but some companies may not still be standing. Good luck to all!

edit WTI Oil just hit $27.

Not sure what you are looking at, but I see treasury yields on 10 year hitting .5% and that has DOW futures up over 1,100+

CNBC.com

Well .5% on the 10 year speaks to a global recession and i guess that makes sense for a down day in the market, but I am looking at all green on CNBC. I guess we will see in the morning. I'm not changing any market allocations tonight but I am confident that in the long run this will be a nice buying opportunity. Think I will be tapping my HELOC to invest and refinancing it on a 3% 30 year mortgage.

I might buy a futures contract at that price.

You need a futures trading account to get live data. Dow futures are down 1040. Oil is down 8.3
OK, I get it. Only getting the info from CNBC. It is conflicting in that if the 10Yr. is dropping below .5% it is difficult to understand any rally on the dow.

I'm not a dummy, but I don't do this for a living or have a futures account.

Days/nights like today make me think that is a good idea.

Thoughts on all this @Cris_Ard ? Do you see this as short or long term? Always enjoy reading your thoughts on the stock market and current events in general as you appear level headed.
Evening, @ForzaTigre.

I've taken advantage of some opportunities over the last 30-40 days and will continue to, though I won't be doing anything tomorrow. I may not do anything this week. Oil isn't done dropping IMO. Should be a ton of consolidation in the oil/gas industry in the next 12-18 months.

No. It's not a good idea. I don't do it anymore. Lost too much money. But this makes me want to. If it's down like this in the morning, I might buy a dow mini contract. People like us can never make money on futures unless we have balls the size of mount Everest. As soon as you put in a stop loss, you get stopped out when they start trading in the pit.

I hear you! I have lost too much money in just option contracts let alone futures. the VIX is so high, that the market may well be up 1,000 in the morning. I am getting old enough that I can't play these games before retirement.

But, at .5% on a 1 year treasury, I cant afford to retire on that either...

10% of cases require ICU. 10 to 30x more deadly than the flu.

So keep on worrying and live your life in a bubble. You’ve obviously let the media get to you.

If you’re not old or have an underlying condition chances are fantastic that you’ll be just fine.

Keep believing whatever you prefer to believe though.

What if you have family and friends that are old?

Sorry your parents have passed away and you've been left to go through this thing we call life all alone. Forevr alone.

IMO powder dry this week and next as it’s going to be a bloodbath across most all asset classes. In a market that’s been so heavily manipulated by central bankers it’s a guaranteed overshoot in both directions +/-. There will be once in a decade buying opportunity sometime within the next 2-6 weeks depends on when we get some real clarity on Corona. Great companies with lots of cash flow and tasty dividends. Good luck!

Yea the virus doesn't worry me much. I'm a bit worried for my 9 month old, and a bit more so for my mom, who is over 60 and will be doing her 6th round of chemo for stage 1 breast cancer this week. I told her that besides her treatments, she may need to stay home for the next couple months LOL.

And my sister in law is pregnant and being induced in Mt. Pleasant in a week. If I was her and my brother I'd be sweating a bit.

The recession that trump voters deserve is coming. How’s your 401k? Hopefully if you’re a trump lover it collapses tomorrow
I have no idea if @johnhugh is being truthful in his desire for others to suffer, or is just trolling, but this exact sentiment is rampant in certain parts of America. This exactly the sentiment that @cocksucker @nytigerfan claims does not exist.

You hit on the salient point that most naysayers about the virus seem to be ignoring....we ALL have people close to us, whom we love dearly, that fall into a high risk category. The incubation period of this virus has the potential to make us all killers.

I guess you don't have any family that's older. No need to have concern for others... just yourself. You're a real quality individual

I have concern for my grandparents (in their 90’s) and for my parents (late 60’s). They’ve lived through these things already though. They understand how to take precautions.

They also have put their faith in Jesus and understand this world is temporary anyways.

I don’t have any babies in my family anymore but my heart hurts for those that do and their little one becomes infected. I’m actually praying for all little ones to be ok.

Im still in the group that thinks this is fear mongering at its worst. I believe that this is akin to a common cold that makes you more susceptible to other illness (other illnesses like pneumonia is what’s actually killing older folks and babies).

I hope none of you get it. I hope we all make good decisions to be better off than when we went into this. I hope the media doesn’t win.
