I have to admit that during the summer the Tour is a welcome distraction while waiting for football. Besides, riding over 2,000 miles in 21 days through some of the toughest conditions and extraordinarily challenging terrain is quite compelling. Additionally, the guys are pretty darn tough. Amazing to see riders crash at 25-40 mile per hour, slide across the pavement and hop back on their bikes and continue. Recently, Tony Martin, a German rider crashed heading into the finish and suffered a compound fracture to his collarbone. He got back up on his bike and pedaled to the finish line (with some assistance from teammates). The next day he wanted to start the race because he was in the leader's yellow jersey, and wanted to show proper respect for the yellow jersey. The doctors had to prohibit the start and he was sent home for a surgical repair of the collarbone.

Just wanted to see if there are other Tour fans out there. If you do decide to try watching, be sure to use the DVR since each stage is hours long. That way you can fast forward through some of the less interesting portions of each stage.

Finally, a couple years ago when I was watching I saw a fan jump beside the riders and run along with them, AND ... held up in his hands, waving behind him like a cape, was a huge orange flag with a big ole tiger paw on it. Awesome - There are Tigers everywhere!
