Trump to nominate fox news host as secretary of defense

Can someone make this make sense?

Coming from the party that thought anointing Kamala Harris was a good idea.......the irony.

Trump is gonna run it the way he wants to and the country has given him the ability to do so.

Elections have consequences Dan

So you have no issue with a talk show host being given the position of secretary of defense?

Well, those things are great and all, and if you walk on or near any military base or community you'll find tons of those folks, are they really qualified to be secdef though?

I think it's a team effort and Team Trump will get it done. We already know what their goals are and I support those goals. Hegseth is another guy that bleeds red white and blue. He will work as hard as he has to imo.

But what are his actual qualifications for the job?
The War on Warriors - Pete Hegseth
Real men fought for our freedoms. It’s time we fought for theirs.

Pete Hegseth joined the Army to fight extremists. Then that same Army called him one. The military Pete joined twenty years ago was fiercely focused on lethality, competency, and color blindness. Today our brass are following the rest of our country off the cliff of cultural chaos and weakness.

Americans with common sense are fighting this on many fronts, but if we can’t save the meritocracy of our military, we’re definitely going to lose everywhere else.

The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty. The only kind of men prepared to face the dangers that the Left pretends don’t exist. Unlike issues of education or taxes or crime, this problem doesn’t have a zip code solution. We can’t move away from it. We can’t avoid it. We have only one Pentagon. Either we take it back or surrender it altogether.

Combining his own war experiences, tales of outrage, and an incisive look at how the chain of command got so kinked, this book is the key to saving our warriors—and winning future wars. The War on Warriors must be won by the good guys, because when the shooting really starts, they’re the only ones who can save us.

Read the book. It is a blueprint on how to make the Military Great Again.
Ok so what are his actual qualifications for the actual real job of secretary of defense?

Like if he was applying for a job, what would be on his resume besides he wrote a book you like? I’ve never had a job interview where I could just say “I’ve got good ideas.” I had to show that I had related experience, proven track record of success, accomplishments in that field of work etc.

Trump clearly wants to shake up the status quo. Pete is an odd pick, but he clearly cares deeply. He has a military background and has been a vocal advocate for veterans for decades.

Remember, Rick Perry threatened to close down the department of Energy when he was running for president, and then when Trump won he put Perry in as head of the DOE. Energy prices did just fine under Trump.

Sometimes when you break the status quo, you break through barriers that could not be broken through before. You also bear responsibility for those decisions.

It will be interesting to see how it works out. It's no more of a risk than putting trannies in charge. Hopefully Pete doesn't get kicked out of office for stealing and immoral behavior.

Thanks for an actual thoughtful response.

Regarding your last sentence and earlier tweet:

1) who cares if someone is transgender if they’re qualified for the position? If someone has elevated up the military ranks over the course of a long career, what does it matter what gender or race or anything else they are? Do we have that little respect for our military?

2) The person you posted a tweet of earlier, Rachel Levine, is not a member of the military and does not serve in the department of defense. While Levine was physician general for Pennsylvania, she led the effort to allow police officers to carry naloxone, which is now the standard in many states and has saved countless lives from opioid overdoses. Since Trump and his supporters have long made resolving the opioid crisis part of their talking points, Levine should be someone that they celebrate, not condemn.

@johnhugh

You boys will have plenty of time to try and understand all the moves Trump is going to make.

He's going to hire people that are loyal to him, support his agenda and will execute his agenda. No different than any other leader of a team, business or organization.
"Yes" people!!! It'll be interesting to see the attrition rate after a year. There was quite the turnover on his last go around.

Which is no different than the overwhelming majority of businesses. Do you think Dabo hires people that are not going to be loyal to him or support his agenda?
Is Dabo hiring anyone to lead the most powerful military in the history of the world? Feels like that’s a position where qualifications might matter a bit.

The West Zone is littered with posts questioning just those types of hires (specifically, hiring loyalty over experience). The overwhelming majority suspect that these types of hires have had a negative impact on our progress as a program. These questionable hires (some, not all) have now been replaced with staff with proven track records. Hiring unqualified people because they re-tweet your nonsense doesn't seem like a sound strategy.

Of course that is what he is doing and that is what he should be doing. He won, that is what the people voted for. Unfortunately, its a winner take all situation and Democrats won 12 of the last 16 years. Now it's not their turn and we will give Republicans a chance. If the Republicans suck, we will fire their ass too.

But Trump deserves his chance to govern unimpeded by hoaxes like last time. Give him a fair shot and let's see what happens. We can always course correct in 4 years if needed. Highly doubt he can do as much damage as the Biden admin did.

I think we 100% understand that that’s what he’s doing.

What damage did Biden admin do?

So the people who have been wrong over and over and over the last several months are now going to tell us how bad the hires are?

Lololol

What damage did Biden admin do?
