Notre Dame is one heck of a draw for TV ratings and the ACC. ABC/ESPN is killing all other networks in terms of ratings without question. The Clemson vs. ND game on ABC was the 4 highest rated game of the year. The number one game of the year was Ohio St vs. VT on Monday night to start the season. They had ZERO competition and all eyeballs watched this one. Also, I tell you what because of the NFL going to Thursday games, Fridays are in many cases outperforming Saturday nights. I was always against Friday night games, but I am not when we are playing AWAY. There is virtually very little competition for Friday night and I expect the networks to start pushing conferences to play on Friday nights. The highest rated game was FSU at BC which took in over 3.15 Million viewers which was a lot more than our game vs. Louisville on Thursday night which we competed with the NFL. If this game was played on Saturday it would probably draw about half that. The highest rated Thursday game was SC vs. UNC at 3.6M the first night of the football season with ZERO NFL games going on. After that 1st week Thursday night games severely fall off. The good news is that the ACC has been a part of the highest rated game of the year (Ohio ST. vs VT), the highest rated Thursday night game (UNC vs. SC), and the highest rated Friday night game (FSU vs. BC). The ACC still has A LOT of viewers and interest when we are playing solid teams. However, we need to move more of the middle tier teams to Thursday and Friday night. There really is no reason to put FSU and CL on Thursday or Friday night unless we are playing away against a weak ACC team that wouldn't draw very well on Saturday at the visitors stadium. Example CL at WF would draw a lot better eyeballs on Friday night than it would a noon game on Saturday competing with a bunch of other games. VT vs. GT would do much better on Friday then it would on Saturday and it would help these teams get recognized more. Just my two cents.
