Unless it comes from Fauci or Brix i'm not buying a word that comes from the WH.
Yeah not sure how much I believe this - combination of the WH and Clay Travis casts a mountain of doubt.
Fauci has stated he would be ok shutting the nation down for 18 months. I am beginning to think he is a clown with this stuff. That is not even remotely possible and he knows that.

He is simply relaying to you the model that is created/put together/revised by the world's the best pandemic team on the face of the planet.
You can argue about Clay Travis all you want. You can't really argue with the people who do this for a living and are largely considered the best in their field.
It's not incredulous when Trump has been wrong about everything from the start. I want to believe it too, but if Trump says it I'm not believing it.
Who is that man? Who exactly am I believing that has demonstrated he has no idea what he is talking about?
No one wants this to be correct more than me, I really hope they're right and this bears out. I just don't know that you can really believe anyone at this point.

Exactly what has Trump done that is wrong? You either have to admit he saved millions of lives with his actions or the models were entirely off base (and killing our economy). One or the other has to be true. Which one is it?
For me personally, I think everyone was wrong. The models, the presidents handling of it could have been better, the media's handling of it could have been better.

I was going to post this earlier but knew all the backlash it would take. There's a faction of people that are "doom and gloom" and a faction that are "it's life". They'll both be in here to tell you how orange man bad or this is a bad flu but nothing to wreck the economy over.

Lots of epidemiologists disagree with his models/predictions. I would assume Fauci does not agree with the current IHME model that is now predicting 60,000 deaths. The IHME staff who put that model together are widely considered the best in their field.
So, you can make this about me and my disagreement with that statement....but you have to realize that its not just me disagreeing with him. Its people in his own field.
I know this angers people to see these models keep going down, but I love what I am seeing. The actual numbers coming in are way less than the first imperical models which we now know were way off base. This is a good thing and I don't think anyone should be upset about the lives being saved.

His communication and crisis leadership has been a complete joke. The US is now the epicenter of this disease after having a 2 week head-start
Never seen anything like it. Sure, he's a real jerk and he's always going to make sure you know how great he is. But the lack of fact based arguments against his policies (not the person, the policies) is awful. It's all about personality and not about practice. They say he lies at times (and he does) but the lies being fired at him far, far outweigh the lies he's firing in the other direction. It's not even close.
Is it Trump's fault that we are a nation of unhealthy fatties? Statistically speaking I'm probably offending 75% of the people that read this. Guess what, I don't care. Shutting down the economy for 6 more months is lunacy. Our hospitals wouldn't be overrun if they turned away every fatty and smoker under the age of 60. You made those lifestyle choices, now go home and hope for the best.

Everyone has been wrong about everything from the beginning, some just keep sticking to their original suggestions despite the ever changing data pointing in the opposite direction.
A lot people compared it to a bad flu. (including governors, the media, really everyone) A lot of people misread what was going to happen here. This isn't a Trump issue or a Federal government issue. This is a nationwide issue. Hell it's worldwide issue. Everyone has been leveled by this virus. The blame game gets us no where. Having an aspiration to get back going by Easter isn't something that's wrong. He has fallen back as necessary. What are you so upset about? If you just want to blame him, that's on you. This isn't his fault. This is something extraordinary that we've been forced to deal with and we have found that we weren't as ready as we needed to be and we have structural problems in our economy. These pre-date Trump, Obama or Bush. This isn't about blame. It's just about facing and addressing the realities before us... Preferably together.

Very serious. And fwiw the Flu killed 80,000 people in 2018 according to the CDC. At the current rate of Covid and the models from IHME 60,000 lives will be lost to Covid. So, if you want to go there we can.
His communication is a joke, I agree. His press conferences are like a back and forth between juvenile media members and a juvenile president. BUT as far as his actions what exactly did you want him to do?

Brix admitted yesterday that they are coding anyone who dies that has the ChinaFlu as a ChinaFlu death. Even if that wasn’t the cause of death. Extreme case, but if you have the ChinaFlu and die in a car accident, you can be coded as a ChinaFlu death. Now I definitely don’t trust the death totals.
They would rather millions of lives be lost to a virus that was exactly like the first models released before they admit
1. Either our President saved millions of lives
2. The Corona Virus was never going to take millions of lives

Fauci, the guy who a month ago said it was no big deal, then said we need to stay locked up for 18 months? Birx, the one who stood up yesterday and basically admitted they were being liberal with the death count? i don’t know if those are the 2 I’d base all my beliefs on.

Fact: The US was more prepared for this than any other country in the world.
A large portion of the population has been staying apart for upwards of a month at this point, so all models are starting to reflect the reality that the population is social distancing and that is drastically limiting the spread of the virus.
The model is largely built on how many people get sick. If less people get sick then less people will die. The less people that get sick the less hospital beds and ICU beds are needed to handle the people that are sick.
The only part of the statement that goes against the current line of thinking from doctors is that the outbreak will be mostly over by mid-May. This spike should be mostly over by mid-May, but that doesn't mean the outbreak is over by mid-May and couldn't just reappear as spread again.
The nation in general has done a fairly good job in Phase 1. Everybody talks about New York because they are the epicenter in the US, but nobody really talks about California. ~400 less dead than Michigan despite 5x the population. ~100 less dead than Louisiana despite ~10x the population. Benefits of keeping people apart early are clear and this is reflected in the model.

saw this last night. Tend to agree. Quarantine the hot spots, and the most heavily affected groups. Let the older crowd continue to shop the 1st hour of every store’s day. Let everybody else get back to work. Still use some precautions there, but can’t keep on the track economically that we are on. Gonna have to be compromise on both sides and hope for the best.
I’ve never seen anything like this shit about z-pack & hydroxychloroquine... where it’s being used it’s working and there are studies not large samples size but it’s being used . The side effects of these drugs are well known. The only reason is because trumps an asshole . Just because you’ve assigned a negative sign on him or doesn’t mean everything he says is wrong . Its pure insanity .
Not exactly, social distancing is figured into the IHME models ALONG WITH data coming in from countries that have already hit their peak and did not come anywhere close to the imperical model. Its two fold. It is not just social distancing. Its a bunch of different things put together.
