The darling of the off-season between his back to back #1 position in Bruce Feldman’s Freak List and his ungodly attributes in EA CFB 2025, Nyck Harbor must be the next Heisman trophy winner at Uof. Right?

But in the latest position battle article from TOS Uof, he is but an after thought. You would assume there must be a murderers row ahead of him to keep him off the field. It seems he is currently behind a true freshman that could not get a Clemson offer, and backup at FSU with 60 yds last season. Maybe he can beat out their backup QB in Doty for some reps

Wide receiver

Arguably the most unsettled position entering camp, there’s been some movement here but I wouldn’t say we have a firm grasp yet on what a two-deep might look like.

Based on our feedback, it certainly feels like freshman Mazeo Bennett has been the most consistent receiver and thus could be on his way to locking up a starting spot.

Florida State transfer Dre Jacobs has gone from being someone we weren’t sure would make an impact this year to pushing for a starting spot. If the season started today, and Jacobs is healthy (he missed the scrimmage but returned to practice the next day), then there’s a pretty strong case that he’d be a starter as well.

Who would the third starter be? That seems up for grabs on a unit that is talented but is going to need to be more consistent and cut down on the drops.

Jared Brown entered camp as a perceived favorite to be a starter and would maybe have an edge there, but there’s a host of guys including Gage Larvadain, Dalevon Campbell, Nyck Harbor, Tyshawn Russell, and Luke Doty who can make a case — and those guys will likely fill out the rest of the depth chart.

There’s not really a position battle at tight end necessarily but we’ll use this space to mention freshman Michael Smith who will play this year and will impact the passing game
