USC women- Dislike even more after this

I have an uncle that was drafted and went to serve in Vietnam. After he came back he decided to stay in the Army as his career. I asked him a few years back how he felt about people kneeling or not standing during the Anthem. I thought he gave me a pretty good answer.

He said "I fought and served so that people I disagreed with could have a voice. I also fought and served for people that disagreed with the aforementioned people to have a voice."

He basically does not like the actions and he saw so much death while there he feels it is a disrespect to the fallen and their families. But he also knows that his service does not mean he gets to choose what nor how people protest. So long as it is safe and controlled. But he did stress that those protests always have 2 sides and he is proud that he gave a tad bit of his life to protect both group's rights.

Got to hand it to her. A team of mostly black players on scholarship and a female black coach making something like $3m per year to coach a game is wanting to bring awareness to racial injustice. Got it! Opportunity is so robust in this country that even someone as ignorant as her can make millions. Sounds pretty good to me!

Just in case she reads this... Nigerians who immigrate to the US enjoy amazing success. They have a nearly 3:1 advantage in terms of post graduate degrees compared to the rest of Americans. Their income is about 10-12% higher than the average in the United States. If there was all this stuff designed to create injustice, it would surely affect them as well because our Nigerian immigrants happen to be black also. Just sayin'.

WTF

I didn't see ANYTHING about Clemson or Football in General.

No conference talk, no CFP, etc., etc.

Yes, Chris, you did a wonderful thing. Walking the edge to get stuff off that is not related to why we are here is a great idea.

Please employ such good logic. @Cris_Ard

PS - hope the family is coping with the loss

People proclaiming that these threads aren’t what “we” are here for should not speak in absolutes.

I, for one, love the many off topic threads that people post. If it’s a topic I don’t want to discuss or think about, I just don’t click that particular thread. Simple.

I find it particularly ironic that people open these threads only to bitch about them. Just don’t open the thread.

Man WTH are you talking about?

Exactly. That other board was one of the best things TI has done in years. I’m here to read and talk about college/Clemson football. This WZ board isn’t Fox News.
But you consinstantly post your political responses in posts and when you do post in football threads its sprinkled with your agenda.

She keeps her team in the locker room for the national anthem to protest racial Injustice and systemic racism. The link doesn't work but you can read all about it if you go on and do a search about it. I was simply responding to that.

Also when she received her new contract she stated that the state of South Carolina has a rich history of racism and that giving her that enormous sum of money was one of the most progressive things that the state has ever done. Of course she didn't mention the part where the state has a black senator has had an Indian-American governor. Unfortunately they don't count I guess...

Oh know….. a reasonable post. The internet, IQs under 100 and people with an agenda can’t handle that.

90% of the threads I open are what would be considered off topic

Exactly. By in large, the football threads are the worst threads we have.

The basketball threads bickering about the head coach are very entertaining. I doubt I even watched a combined 40 minutes of Clemson basketball this year but I sure do enjoy reading those arguments

Those are technically on topic but I’m just there to read the sideshow

I’m talking about the other stuff about the Nigerians. Now you talking about Indian governors. I actually follow you, I know you can’t be so obtuse to think that the fact success stories exist mean there’s no room for progress? Now I don’t like the anthem protests either, but you can’t get on here with that other nonsense.

To be fair, this is a sports subject and it’s about Clemson’s rival. It’s not a purely political thread.

Here we have a U.S. judge making a comment specifically geared to Clemson Basketball

There's tons of room for progress. Sitting in a locker room to protest our national anthem is doing what exactly? We need to provide solutions and ways forward. That's something that I do in my life because it's something that I believe. I believe in affordable housing. I believe that people who work hard should have an opportunity to purchase a home. I put my money where my mouth is. I don't sit in the locker room to protest this ambiguous thing without providing any path toward a solution.

I apologize if that bothers you. I do not think that our country needs more random protests about ambiguous phrases that are designed to create power over something. Let's actually solve problems and work together to do it. She is a very divisive figure who said a lot of offensive things in our time. As far as I can see she's never offered one solution to any of these issues she claims to care so much about. It's about her political agenda and not about an overarching improvement in life for everyone in this country.

Also, my point about the Nigerian immigrants is that if we have a system in place to discriminate against people then they would be caught up in that system. Any effective system, which this systemic racism is supposed to be, would automatically pull those folks in. But it doesn't. That's because it doesn't exist in the way that they describe it. That's why I made the point about the Nigerians because they succeed in spite of all the obstacles people say there are here. These are folks that come to our country without a lot of money and they still find a way to be incredibly successful. That should be an inspiration to all of us

Are you sure the Nigerian Prince, that I sent my money to after his heartfelt E-mail, isn't funding them?

Topic headers are a good clue that this is not a Clemson football thread. You can self select where you allocate your time on the TI board. If I get smarter, one day I'm going to plunge into the Penny Stock Thread.

If you want to get under your UofSC friends skin, bring this topic up with them. Also, she never wears UofSC gear. That gets them too. Evidently she has a friend that is a designer and wears that during games to get her friend publicity.

Maybe because they’re so good at winning various lotteries and so generous in giving that money away…
😉

I would never do anything that I felt would show disrespect to the men and serving, the ones that gave all, nor the retired military. But that is my view. I a just an extremely small portion of the country. The beauty of this country........ We have choices! But the beauty of this country is there can also be repercussions from those decisions.
