USC women- Dislike even more after this

I would never do anything that I felt would show disrespect to the men and serving, the ones that gave all, nor the retired military. But that is my view. I a just an extremely small portion of the country. The beauty of this country........ We have choices! But the beauty of this country is there can also be repercussions from those decisions.
And neither would I. Doing any protest at a traditional flag ceremony is just weak IMO. We honor the flag at every sporting in front of enormous crowds. You want to raise a stink then? When people make discretionary income choices to watch a sporting event. Sorry, that just shows me how lazy you are. Go organize your own event and I’ll give you respect then.

At a universal level, this country gets hoodwinked by MSM placing too much energy and emphasis on discourse because it attracts eyeballs.

Therefore, inflating “negative” issues making them larger than they really are.

I don’t want to limit a persons right to protest when done in a responsible fashion. Because when the issue does matter, we need the platform to do so.

There's tons of room for progress. Sitting in a locker room to protest our national anthem is doing what exactly? We need to provide solutions and ways forward. That's something that I do in my life because it's something that I believe. I believe in affordable housing. I believe that people who work hard should have an opportunity to purchase a home. I put my money where my mouth is. I don't sit in the locker room to protest this ambiguous thing without providing any path toward a solution.

I apologize if that bothers you. I do not think that our country needs more random protests about ambiguous phrases that are designed to create power over something. Let's actually solve problems and work together to do it. She is a very divisive figure who said a lot of offensive things in our time. As far as I can see she's never offered one solution to any of these issues she claims to care so much about. It's about her political agenda and not about an overarching improvement in life for everyone in this country.

Also, my point about the Nigerian immigrants is that if we have a system in place to discriminate against people then they would be caught up in that system. Any effective system, which this systemic racism is supposed to be, would automatically pull those folks in. But it doesn't. That's because it doesn't exist in the way that they describe it. That's why I made the point about the Nigerians because they succeed in spite of all the obstacles people say there are here. These are folks that come to our country without a lot of money and they still find a way to be incredibly successful. That should be an inspiration to all of us
I said I don’t like the Anthem protests. I also don’t know one rich Nigerian that’s not an athlete, that’s not to say there aren’t those of all nationalities who are successful. It’s not really the point.

Im successful. I’m black…BUT I have been through some shit related to my race, and have had to fight hard just to get people to teach me what to do with my money. Stuff my friends seem to be taught as kids. I’m not saying it to complain, but don’t be dismissive.

Managing money is something that should be taught in school. Florida just passed a bill that in order to graduate high school you have to pass a simple money managing type class. I feel one of the biggest downfalls of people today is how terrible some are with money. This is also not about making more money. It is about budgeting. Things even uber rich people fail to do

A lot of Nigerian folks are in medicine. They’re a good reminder to Americans that Africa is very diverse.

Dawn Staley gets paid $3 million/yr to coach a sport nobody watches and she’s still always bitching about something. She’s as unlikeable as they come
The only thing bigger than Dawn Staley’s ego is the bulge in her pants.

I would never intentionally be dismissive toward you. I've always enjoyed your posts even when we don't agree. I also would never be dismissive of the challenges that you've had to overcome in your life. They exist for all of us on different levels and some are far greater than others. I just don't believe that we have a system designed to create failure for some people. Of course, that isn't to say that the way we have things set up doesn't fail a lot of people as part of the process. But in those cases I'm committed to finding solutions rather than having pointless protests that don't change things.

Some people are for sure born into a great situation. Some are born into an almost impossible situation. It does suck but it is impossible to have a system set up for equality of outcomes. Kids raised under the same roof do not have equal outcomes. So it is impossible to expect it across a broad landscape. Getting to the root cause of issues is the only way to solve issues and I am not sure how we do that either. I still think hard work and respect go a long way in the world today.

Man it is so nice to be able to post and read posts from people where we may disagree on things but we do not resort to name calling and screaming. Good on you sir!

Two things.
1. How much is she donating to social justice. Maybe a lot. Just don’t know.
2. If she wins a Gold medal in the Olympics will she stay in the locker room instead of standing on the podium and listening to the National Anthem?

I do think we can do a better job of providing a better opportunity for people who have a lot of those disadvantages. Further instilling the value of hard work and commitment to a set of ideals would be very helpful. Instead, we spend all our time fighting like idiots and it's so unfortunate. I firmly believe reasonable people on both sides could solve so many of our problems. If we'd just stop seeing each other as the enemy and realize we would all benefit by working together...

I agree. The issue is politicians cannot hold power if the citizens do not argue. It keeps that wedge between us all. In the end We the citizens need to really do a better job of doing everything we can to find elected officials that do not look to divide and conquer. Sadly DC's biggest bipartisan stance is division and control.

I have an uncle that was drafted and went to serve in Vietnam. After he came back he decided to stay in the Army as his career. I asked him a few years back how he felt about people kneeling or not standing during the Anthem. I thought he gave me a pretty good answer.

He said "I fought and served so that people I disagreed with could have a voice. I also fought and served for people that disagreed with the aforementioned people to have a voice."

He basically does not like the actions and he saw so much death while there he feels it is a disrespect to the fallen and their families. But he also knows that his service does not mean he gets to choose what nor how people protest. So long as it is safe and controlled. But he did stress that those protests always have 2 sides and he is proud that he gave a tad bit of his life to protect both group's rights.
This fake woke protest is all about hating America. Don't be fooled.

Exactly. And they do it simply to hold ‘ gain power. They will burn the country down as long as they can rule over its ashes

If it’s any consolation I knew exactly why you mentioned immigrants from an African country succeeding here. Go look up Orlando Patterson. Phd sociology at Harvard- a black liberal democrat. Someone forgot to tell this guy to regurgitate the systemic narrative. He’s studied race relations in over 60 countries for decades. He says this is the least racist white majority country in the world and blacks have it better here than anywhere else in history. I know it won’t change anyone else’s mind here but I thought you’d like to know your opinion is backed up by this fellow and really a whole lot of sociological studies, demographics and statistical analysis. It isn’t about facts anymore. It’s purely political. This garbage is about power and it’s a tool to gain more of it. Nothing more.

For the past 3 years myself and another Officer conduct all the interviews for guys screening to come to the command. Yea, 99% of them are white, just the makeup of the community. Some of the stories I hear about the backgrounds that these kids come from are absolutely astounding. Kid growing up in a foster home because he was found alone in the house 3 days after his parents both overdosed, dads in prison, ect.

The other day I screened a kid that grew up with a single mom working 2 jobs just to keep a roof over their head and food on the table. He was in a crappy area of Chicago in a failing public school, so he went to his mom and told her he wanted to go to private school and she said it wasn’t possible. He told her he had it figured out and he had not only found a private school he wanted to go to, so he also applied to be the nigh janitor at that same public school. So he would go to work at night as a janitor, go straight to school, and then also joined the wrestling team after. He did this for 4 years not only working his ass off, but also getting ridiculed the entire time for being the janitor at the school. He kicked ass in the classroom and went to the Naval Academy and graduated with a 3.86 in Arabic and Poli Sci, went to BUDs and graduated, and now screening to be a member of 1 of 2 tier one units.

Many of the guys that I screen would love to have some of the rich African Americans always who are always complaining about injustice explain their white privilege to them, because they’ve straight earned every damn thing they’ve gotten.

My dad served in the military and spent 3 tours in Viet Nam. I never asked him how he felt about athletes kneeling, but I doubt he liked it. Either way, I love the National Anthem because I am proud to be an American.

I think this tells a lot about Ray Tanner and the TheUof and their fanbse…..how desperate they are to have winner in *anything*.

I am close to calling it a career in College football fandom (Dabo keeps me going and others too), but mainstream support and facilitate that BS…and I’ll drop it like a hot potato.

Why would Dawn Staley or really any liberal protest the National Anthem?

It doesn’t even have God in it does it?

I thought people didn’t like the pledge. When has anyone complained about the anthem?

I do think America the Beautiful and God Bless America are better choices, but both have God in them.

Topic headers are a good clue that this is not a Clemson football thread. You can self select where you allocate your time on the TI board. If I get smarter, one day I'm going to plunge into the Penny Stock Thread.
You, friend are a dumbass to think I was a dumbass not understanding the content of the thread.

It......and too many others have no place on a Clemson Football site.

I rest my case.
My hope is @Cris_Ard agrees.

Since we are into banning things, I'd like to ban personal slurs that have nothing to do with a football board.
