I’ve never done that. Id appreciate not being lumped into a group also, there’s a lot of dumbass liberals on here too but I don’t include you in their generalizations. And in all honesty, SOME are just trying to live their lives but simultaneously OTHERS are demanding special treatment. I have zero tolerance for people demanding special treatment period. Demanding inclusion into women’s sports, demanding people to use pronoun’s, demanding to be allowed to read sex books in school, etc or they’re homophobic is crazy. I have no issue with anyone and as I’ve stated before, I prefer to be left alone in matters like these, they are private, personal matters. I respect their rights to happiness and life but that doesn’t mean they get to impose their lifestyle on me and my family - that goes for any group of people. This issue should fall under the live and let live mantra but it’s wildly political now.
I agree with some, and can understand all of your positions.
Where we probably differ is that I don't ming calling someone a different pronoun or name if asked. I like it to myself, I go by my middle name, and have never had anyone have an issue with that. I would be bothered if someone got upset if I didn't know the correct pronouns or name initially. Give me a chance and tell me first.
I have a history in the arts and many,many friends who are in the LGBTQ community. While a few are a bit annoying with the constant need to defend and push, I do get the desire when they have been so badly treated historically. Most are just like us and it never comes up.
People are people, they can be great or assholes and all spectrums in between. I try hard and ask that others don't lump a whole group of people in with the idiots.

Calling you by your middle name is not the same as calling a man with a beard a she/her. Like I said, most are good folks. But to just completely ignore the part of that movement that is militant isn’t wise either. I’m sure there were tons of good Germans that got lumped into being a Nazi because they wouldn’t hold the wild rhetoric and activists accountable. See the guy in MN that was trans, destroyed 20k in teslas and got off. Why’d that happen? That’s a problem. You should be able to call out bullshit while supporting a cause. I’d argue that makes the argument stronger.

It’s not hard. I have no personal issue. But it’s not fair to demand others do that. They are entitled to their beliefs just like the guy with makeup on right? We aren’t talking about physical violence. That’s not an American ideal. Forcing people to be “nice” isn’t what we are about. It’s not democrats or your job to make sure people are nice. I could what about this 100 ways. If everyone deserves due process they certainly deserve free speech.

This is what I don't understand, I don't know many trans folks but the ones I've met have never demanded anything. I've told this story before but there was a guy in our Portland office that I had communicated with many times and later met him in person at a company meeting the next year. Guy had a full beard and nothing about him screamed that he was born female and he was one of the nicest, funniest people I've ever met. I later learned that he was trans and he never demanded we call him anything, but it was obvious that he saw himself as a male. Just curious if you met someone like this who was outwardly fully male, would you insist on referring to him as she/her?
Like I said. I don’t do that. But I’m not gonna bash people that do. Do you think it’s nice to wish people’s families die in fires? How about calling people retarded or racist? That’s happened to me on this very board. Are you standing up for me or just the group that your leaders tell you to? Is it nice to murder a young white man then use that to raise 100’s of thousands of dollars and patronize the victims dad? I agree with your message, but damn. No one has the right to not be offended. I could argue every instance in my post is much more damaging and hurtful than calling a man by the wrong pronouns. It’s this white knighting of certain groups that’s so annoying to me. If it’s so important to you to make sure people are nice then be consistent.
