I’d give anything if I could remember where I read or heard this, but think back to our run between 2015-2020.

We had either the 1st or 2nd highest coaching payroll in college football. We didn’t have the funds that these blue bloods had but we were punching above our weight. How did it happen? If I recall correctly schools such as Texas And Tennessee were paying more in coaches buyouts than our payroll. That happened because our coaches wasn’t looking to leave.

Maybe it wasn’t friends and family. Maybe it was Coach Swinney putting a staff in place to keep the turnover low. In other words you don’t have to pay buyouts if your staff isn’t constantly looking to leave.
