Jimmie didn’t get fired until the late 80’s and it was because he decided to opine (on live TV) about the breeding practices of past slave holders as the reason African Americans were larger and faster than the average white Joe.
Personally I think it was something that shouldn’t have completely ended his career. It was a colossal mistake on his part no doubt.
He wasn’t incorrect about the reality of forced breeding for a desired outcome. However, it wasn’t something he should have been commenting on, likely at all, but most certainly in that setting and off the cuff as if he is talking about a ham sandwich he had last week at the deli.
The brutality and evilness of the institution of slavery and the practices around it aren’t something to wade into on a whim, particularly on live TV in front of millions.

Just what should (ding ding ding) the 'proper listen up phrase' be when someone chooses to or is asked to comment on the Holocaust? Should we have "disclaimer" cards that the stupid stuff put on a 'potentially unsettling" scenes on TV? Just deny it ever happened (as some fools do)?

If there's one thing about the Bible that I admire....and there is too much to list..... is that IF I were gonna make up the stories in the Bible (they are not made up), I shirley would not have told a WHOLE LOT of the history therein. Some of it is very sad, but real life.

You are certainly free to disagree. I voiced my opinion and I stand by it.
There are many topics you just don’t talk about in a public setting, much less on TV, with out the proper context and understanding that the audience wants and needs to hear the subject matter.
It can be facts around a dark period of time, or something sexual that isn’t really appropriate for the venue or some other subject matter.
When providing color for a football game, discussing the breeding patterns of former slave traders simply isn’t kosher, anymore than talking about the sexual position you and your wife tried the other night because you saw a football player in an awkward and similar position while he was being tackled.
Would it be acceptable to suggest that an underweight football player reminded you of an emaciated Jew right before they were led to the gas chamber? It’s a fact that many were nothing but skin and bones, so I guess it is ok?
I am not suggesting the facts are not what they are about any number of subjects. It isn’t an attempt to rewrite history. It is an attempt to align the setting and context for those facts to be shared in a manner that is is appropriate and purposeful; providing color for a sporting broadcast isn’t it.

Never knew me and ole Dawn had so much in common. I, for the record, am not a monkey either. Feels good to get that off my chest.
To me it comes across that DS feels that way about her girls. She’s an embarrassment and should be made to apologize but we know that won’t happen.
With Dawn Staley, and really any black person, who is going to question it? They would be labeled a racist. Heck, she was never even questioned about the BYU thing when it was determined to be a hoax.
