We informed readers yesterday that Clemson had not yet thrown in the towel on a certain offensive line target.

Clemson paid a visit to said prospect Tuesday night, per TigerIllustrated.com sources.

Nokesville (Va.) Patriot tackle Jakai Moore had offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell in the crowd for his basketball game, we are told.

Moore (6-5, 295) has played hard-to-get this fall; he twice was slated to attend games in Death Valley but did not end up making the trip.

We can tell you Clemson has maintained communication with him nonetheless, with the reciprocated interest at least keeping the Tigers’ fire lit.

Moore’s former high school coach has been quoted indicating Penn State will get an official visit this weekend, with Clemson on the docket for his final official visit next week.

Of course, the coach had said Moore would be at Virginia this past weekend, and that official visit did not materialize either.

Moore appears to have taken shape as a battle between Penn State and South Carolina, neither of which has experienced similar problems getting him on campus.

He took his official visit to South Carolina in the spring, returned during the summer and went to a game this fall. Penn State has drawn comparable trips.

Moore is scheduled to go on his Penn State official visit this weekend.

We can tell you that Moore has reaffirmed the intent to give Clemson his final official visit Dec. 15.

Moore will not be a midyear enrollee, but indications are he is moving toward signing during the early period that begins Dec. 19.

He is expected to be accompanied on his official visit by his mother.

The trick will be, getting to that point.

We consider Moore a long-shot under the circumstances. But Dabo Swinney has always said that get a prospect on campus, and Clemson has a chance.
