Welp, I won't be shopping at Home Depot anymore

Here’s my thing with all the “privilege” bullshit…let’s say I have white male privilege. Okay. Now what? What the fvck do you want me to do about it? Recognize that non-white males see the world differently? Okay, fine. Done.
Are there countries where the overwhelming majority demographic doesn’t inherently have some type of “privilege” when compared to minority groups?
Im short and bald. Do tall men with nice hair enjoy “privileges” that I don’t? Of course they do. Do I act like a bitch about it? Sometimes.

you'll need to liquidate your savings and gift your home to those less fortunate as a reparation for your privilege

After seeing my tax hits so far this year, I'm gonna call my tax situation "reparations" and call it a day. Hope that works for the folks who are receiving the benefits of my taxes. If not, GFY.

If you have a customer facing job at a home improvement store, but don't know the difference between duct tape and plumbers tape, you have Home Depot Privilege. Seriously, is part of the application process "Have you ever called a Handyman service to change an air filter? If yes, you're hired."

And if that jackhole at the front display keeps asking if they can come out and check the HVAC/Roof/Insulation/Gutters/Windows at my house he's going to get Kicked in the Nuts Privilege.

I’m starting to wonder if this is a goof. “If you believe the police exist to protect you” then you have white privilege? That entire poster is one the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.

This. Has anyone verified that this is actually real? We are so quick to demonize without verifying the veracity of the source or information.

I have male privilege and although I realize it I've never felt like I need to apologize for it. Why would a white make feel like he has to apologize? What are you doing to feel guilty about anything? As a male throughout history some horrible things have been done with male power. I'm fine. Realizing the history I try not to behave like males have in the past that have abused that privilege/power. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I don't discuss issues with women pretending we have the same opportunities in areas where I know my being a male matters. I'm going to benefit but I don't pretend like I don't. And when I can impact the situation positively, I will. I won't be the boss paying someone more just because they are male. This still happens. I can't save everything or everyone but I'll do my small part.

Wut 🤔

As an adult I have a choice as to where to shop. Im not offended by this nor am I getting defensive. I will just choose not to shop at Home Depot moving forward.

Sorry, not going to stop shopping at Home Depot when I've finally memorized the floor plan.

Had to go to Lowe's when HD was out of something a couple weeks ago and must have walked 3 miles trying to figure out where it was located.

And no, I'm not asking someone who works there. I have my principles.

Obviously not a document produces by The Home Depot, but hey, yall do what yall do and participate in this weak troll attempt.
The fact remains tho on the impact that this info has on certain folks. They can't understand simple concepts. If I'm the supervisor on a job, certain privileges are connected with that on the job. Some people will abuse those privileges or powers while others will show up and fall in with their subordinates, not acting like a dick or acting better than others just because they are the boss. Although they have that power/privilege they don't misuse it. Same with race, gender or anything else.

Larger message is treat everyone with respect no matter where they sit in each situation. Human decency is the answer. It's not as normal as people think. Just because you are a decent human being doesn't mean everyone else is. There's some crappy stuff going on daily and a lot of it is based on race/gender and other stuff. Being aware of it helps you not accidentally participate in it.

Because that's how a percentage of minorities actually think. Some white people may feel that way as well, but it's a real thing to some extent.

As far as the poster I hope it's a goof.

Interesting that page 1 of flyer includes several forms of privilege - white, classic, gender, cisgender, Christian, able-bodied, heterosexual. Page 2 of the flyer only focuses on White privilege.

The flyer thus elevates those who are burdened by the effects of white privilege over other impacted classes. Flyer creates a "privilege" hierarchy that one privilege matters more. How discriminatory.

PS - Tongue in cheek response.

Home Depot co-founders Bernie Marcus and Ken Langone have been major financial supporters of conservative causes including President Trump. Although both have retired for about 10 years and neither are now involved in management decisions, Home Depot has had criticism from liberal quarters for the co-founders conservative philosophy. Trump has publicly descended Marcus. This material could be part of a team HD over-reaction to criticism. I would like to know a little more about the situation in which those materials were used before I judge a huge corporation that provides products that I frequently use.

You always give thoughtful answers and I look forward to reading your responses on various issues. Appreciate you.
I do, however, disagree with you that the larger message of this is about respect. I wish you were right but I don’t think so. I truly believe it’s about division. Victims vs Oppressor. Pinpointing a common enemy of less privileged.

how the @##$% do you know that? Been in a HD break room lately? True or not, pretty much spot on from a Liberal agenda
Because that’s what liberals do. Denounce it as disinformation only to find out it is/was factual. Just look no further than the lying asses in our administration. They have been caught in lie after lie but the MSM just looks away and talks about how shitty co derivatives are. Mind blowing how uneducated this country has become.
