Well, now I am confused. Mainstream media bad, mainstream America good? And in your opinion states like NY and CA, that contribute more to the federal govt than they take, are not “mainstream America”. But states like S.C. that take more than they contribute, are mainstream America?

If you and your wife were incredibly poor and she got pregnant unexpectedly, I am of the belief that you should be allowed to terminate the pregnancy early so that you can have children when you are fully prepared to do so. What does that have to do with the fact that his platform appealed to a majority of Americans not living in Cal and NY? I don’t even think he believes totally in his platform, but it resonated with the voters he needed in swing states.

WEll you do realize few women even realize they are pregnant at 4 weeks into gestation. Especially the ones that are not looking for it or wanting it. So this rule would greatly decrease abortion

That’s where the details come in. If a woman is using easily accessible contraception (see how all these liberal policies make things easier?) then she shouldn’t have much to worry about when it comes to getting pregnant. Say her partner is using a condom and everything goes smoothly, no reason to worry. Then in say 5 or 6 weeks she sees she missed her period. She takes a pregnancy test, it’s positive. This should be an exception IMO. Wasn’t her fault. She was being responsible. Just bad luck. But let’s say her partner is using a condom and it busts. I can guarantee you that couple, if they’re concerned about potential pregnancy will be getting a pregnancy test done ASAP.
At some point you have to require SOME personal responsibility. I’m not a fan of women going around having unprotected sex and then just getting a free abortion whenever they get knocked up. That’s stupid.

I didn’t say anything about proving anything. All I’m saying is if people have access to cost-free contraception, that would greatly lower the need for abortion in the first place. People aren’t going to stop having sex. It’s in our DNA. People act like all these people having tons of kids want to be having them. A lot of it is poor decision making, mostly by choosing to spend money on things other than condoms. But if people can’t help themselves you have to help them. That’s really the backbone of my beliefs. A lot of these issues don’t affect me personally.

They treat it like a whoopsie daisy - like now that I successfully acheived we're-not-ready conception, the law should protect my right to grab the coat hanger. It is appalling honestly.

Society revolves around this personal responsibility characteristic. When we stop living & teaching children/young adults this core value and instead support a culture of victim, where's mine, do what I want, finance my sexual irresponsibility, etc., the results are going to be interesting to say the least.
There are many countries that do support this lifestyle. I encourage people interested in that existence to explore them, work there for a bit, and if you still agree - move there. Just be prepared to pay 60% of your (possibly govt determined) income to taxes to pay for this lifestyle for you and your countrymen.

I don’t know. That’s entirely subjective. People that have good income (the majority of this board) don’t understand what it’s like to not have a dollar to spare in your budget. I don’t either, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to protect the people that live at that level of poverty
