What does “commitment” really mean these days?

I don’t know the answer. But it seems like there should be a different word used to describe the relationship.

How about some of these as potential status descriptions:
“Maybe”
“Intending to enroll”
“Maybe, unless offered more”
“Probably not, just using this as a placeholder for now”
“Actually going to be there even if other schools offer more. All in”

It’s reached a point where not having a contract in place makes zero sense. For both sides. If I were a smaller school I would be tempted to have less players and spend a lot more on each player. 53 sounds about right.
