Is it? I would argue that what you call trash (assuming you mean poor uneducated and a history of questionable life decisions) is the group that Trump has catered to. I don’t think those folks were ever democrats, but instead apathetic to the process. His hateful rhetoric was the fuel they needed to point the finger at someone else for their own shortcomings.
