when we get to the end of trumps term

what excuses will our resident trump voters make for the stock market performance this time?
I think it’s a big mistake for Dems to spike the football on a stock market decline. Eventually, as we know, the market will go back up and if Dems make too big of a deal out of the dip now it’ll be easier for republicans to take credit for the rise later.

The market just hates uncertainty, once the Trump tariffs are in place for a while and the market sees how it’s truly impacting the economy, the markets will stabilize and grow. My fear is more that Trump plays this game where he puts tariffs on, then removes them, then puts them back, then increases them, etc so that no stability is ever created.

The bigger key for the Democrats will be seeing if they can be as effective at tying the impending price increases to Trump as the Republicans were at tying inflation to Biden.

I hope someone is keeping tracking on whether anyone(s) is just ahead of the curve each time the market fluctuates.

Im certain the stock market will eventually rebound. I'm not so sure Trump won't just pull the tariffs off the table, due to some concession from some nation and declare victory.
What I'm afraid of, is if the tariffs continue, the economy reaches a deep recession (which many were predicting prior to tariffs) and people lose their livelihoods. Retirements evaporating, higher unemployment and a government which just had deep cuts that cannot handle the people's needs.
Theres potential for some major issues. Hopefully it all works out and things go well. No one should dare be rooting for bad things.

Rooting? I voted for none of this. What other things can I really do to make it better? Write my congressman?

No man im not saying you are rooting for this. I'm just saying I'm not rooting for this. If this goes badly, its not an exaggeration to say people could die. I'm just hoping it wont, even though it very well could.

Trump says he is making America wealthy again. He has failed at everything he does. He lost four hundred million that was given to him, he has filed seven or more bankrupts, and he is a complete failure. Before it is all said and done this will be the greatest disaster in America history including the Great Depression of the 1930's. MAGA supporters are blind to his nonsense.

Trump will rule forever, so go ahead and write that down.

Who am I to interrupt a dem circle jerk? You folks have serious TDS. Seek some help. I'm sure one of you keyed a Tesla today.
You won't even hazard a guess at what part of this term we'll take out to consider his economic numbers good? Last time it was COVID. this time i'm thinking he'll blame it on illegals, but you guys are deeper in that trump rhetoric than most

Go sit at the back of the class DUNCE/TROLL. You are a TROLL. You claim you're not a DEMONRAT, but you side with them on every single issue.

I think not only are you a Demonrat, you're also a liar. JMO, which carries about as much weight as what yours does.

Many good points, but I don't think you can draw a clear line between the tariffs remaining in place and the market eventually growing. The market could level out below where it would have been without tariffs. Certainty here isn't as beneficial as uncertainty is damaging IMO. Bad business conditions are bad business conditions; they don't drastically improve the situation because you're sure about them.

How's the market going to respond positively under the very real possibility of stagflation?

I think you bring up an interesting point that is becoming very relevant right now. So hear me out.

I have been a registered Republican for 41 years. I would say I have been very consistent, I have agreed, regardless on the administration, on about 85% of the policies and laws passed. Right now I 100% disagree on the current use of how this new round of tariffs are being used, very haphazard compared to Trumps first term. In your view, because I don't fall in line and agree, should I not consider myself a Republican and shouldn't be welcomed in the party? Looking for an honest answer. Thanks.

You asked politely, and one of my sons is also named with a Q, so I'll give you my best shot.

I am a Republican also, but I guess that was the reason for your question. #1 because of how I was raised. #2 I pretty much knew from the time I was able to want to choose, I wanted to defend this country in the military. My dad was Navy. My sister Army. My brother, prior Jarhead/retired Army, and probably the best man I have ever known. I wanted to serve my COUNTRY.

I didn't like the 1st Bush. I didn't like the second Bush either, but I voted all 3 times for a Republican. I voted R because I know where the lunatics on the other side want this country to go. They don't even realize that the gov't would kill them first because they suck up too many of the resources. If democrat leaders could replace them with something other than ILLEGAL aliens, they would drop them like a bad habit.

The way I saw it, Pubs were the lesser of two evils (I've definitely opened my eyes to they're all evil). Hell, I've been deployed at least 5 times because of the Bush's decisions. Not once because of a Trump decision.

"In your view, because I don't fall in line and agree, I should not consider myself a Republican and shouldn't be welcomed in the party?" Will you point out to me where I posted that, because that would be unlike me. I might not agree with anything someone says, but I'm living proof that I have spent over 30 years doing things to protect this country and your/my/all Americans freedom of speech.

TL:DR Your fault, you asked.

I appreciate the candid response. Very grateful for families like yours that have served our country. I never served but both grandfathers did in WW2, they were my heroes.

My point about about not being welcomed in the Republican party was a reference towards your post replying to DW4_2016:

I took this to infer that he was a Democrat pretending to be a Republican. My apologies if I had the wrong take.

Here is what I will say, there are many on TI who are pretty clear, anyone who doesn't agree with everything Trump says and does is either a Never Trumper, has TDS, is a lefty, liberal, etc. etc., you get my point. Have we really gotten to the point that if you aren't 100% in, then get the heck out? If we aren't there yet it sure seems we really, really close. So as a "85% Republican" I question if Independent is where I really belong. I will never give any politician or party completely blind devotion, I'm not wired that way.

I appreciate the thoughtful and respectful response. Have a great weekend!

What specifically did you agree with before but now do not?

You couldn't write out more of an idiotic statement, and no, I'm not a Trump supporter.

Hm, i'm pro 2A and i generally want government handout programs to end. i want strong boarders. generally, want people to do for themselves rather than rely on the government. fiscally conservative but i realize that taking everything away at once isn't a solution that works. i guess that makes me a crazy lib if you're in the trump echo chamber. hard to say who i will vote for next go round, but i wanted to vote for a reasonable conservative this time. unfortunately, none made the final ballet.
