I don't think those things are mutually exclusive.
I do think this was some sort of coup and there is a SMALL possibility that Joe comes out and says "wait a minute".
It's hard for old people to accept they have diminished capabilities.
I have absolutely ZERO doubt that the Democrats killed Joe Biden and ate his body some time between 10 pm Saturday and 11 am Sunday.
It would be great to hear from Joe. The leadership is in shambles.

That's very unlikely. Ihink he's got enough brain cells left to understand that he isn't going to be the nominee.
Assuming he has covid, or is under the weather, i can't believe that if he (the big guy) actually made the decision not to run on his own and without coersion, he wouldn't have waited to do it when he could actually make an announcement from the oval office. He could have talked about all his great accomplishments but after careful consideration he wanted to spend more time with his family after so many decades of selfless public service.
Pres Biden and family, dug in too hard about staying in the race for too long so those with the real power pulled the chance for a dignified exit off the table.
He's coming to meet with Biden piggy but has requested to also visit with Trump - not Trump instead of Biden. You are the biggest purveyor of misinformation on this board.

Joe will be very limited in public appearances for two reasons. One, they want to quell the talk about Harris and others hiding his condition. Two, he can only hurt the ticket at this point with any answers he gives to questions.

i dont think his accelerated diminishment did not occur until after his last state of the union. But i think it will work out better since the announcement did not come until after the trump party convention. now the trump party has to reset moreso than the dems.

Dude I haven't been thrilled about a presidential candidate on either side for many, many years. That hasn't changed here but what has changed is she now has the requisite executive experience that she didn't have 4 years ago, to go along with her experience as a Senator and an Attorney General. Hence, she's more qualified than anyone else and is the obvious choice since she was the VP. Passing over her would have been catastrophic for the party so I understand why she has been endorsed by almost everyone on the left.
For me, I think who she picks as the VP will be critical. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with her being the Commander in Chief, so I hope she picks someone with a military background, like Kelly.
This wouldn't even be a debate if the Republicans had put up a credible candidate but since they won't, I will happily vote for her. I know you want me to be mad, but I'm just not. 🤷♀️

I hear all the things you said above, but I just think if I was in your shoes, I’d feel duped, because this has been the Dems plan at least for the last year. I had the choice on who I wanted the R nominee to be. I knew that my vote didn’t matter because Trump was going to get the nomination, but I still had a choice. You did not ….
I mean can you honestly (and you don’t have to answer) say that if Biden was truthful and opted not to run, and the Dems ran a legit primary, you would’ve cast your vote for Harris?
I don't know what I'd do until I saw the list of who was running. If Cori Bush or Bob Menendez were running against her, I would absolutely vote for Harris. If the other choices were Shapiro or Kelly, I'm pretty sure I'd pick between those two. But that's not where we are so I'm going to roll with her. The alternative is just too dangerous.

You were just robbed of the choice though … if the Dems ran a honest primary, Shapiro or Kelly may have been there for you to vote for … shoot the next “Junior Senator from some state” (I.e Obama) could’ve come to the forefront, but no … your candidate was/will be chosen for you. I mean I know that typically is the case, we (Rs and Ds alike) just have the illusion of “choice”, but bro … you didn’t even get your illusion.

I’ve had a difficult time getting democrats to address this issue. To the point where they just completely ignore me.
@dpic73 did admit that he could see it being an issue in future elections.
However @okclem just ignores it completely.
Which leads me to believe that when you hear them screaming about saving democracy, they don’t really mean it. They want the benefits of a democracy but only if it’s run by the people they approve.
The same could be said about the extreme maga elements. They want freedoms, as long at it’s the freedoms they approve.

The thing about Trump is if he's re-elected, normal conservatives will be sidelined for many years to come, if not forever. The best option for you guys to ever take back power is to let Kamala fall on her face and for Trump to be a distant memory. If I was a moderate conservative, I'd vote for her for that reason alone.
