Who here has died and come back to life?

This is on my bucket list. Tell me about your experience.
My buddy and also next door neighbor’s foster parents’ foreign exchange student from Norway’s step-sister was visiting them last summer at their pool party and decided to put back Tito’s Scandinavian style and slipped pool side and cracked her head and then fell/passed-out into the pool...bunch of drunks poolside rescue her from the water (wasting precious time by arguing and wrestling one another to get to this poor foreign national woman)....trying to revive her via a pseudo-Heimlich last ditch effort and finally, somehow got her to spew out water and take a breath through some miracle....Quite a mad scene, with ambulance called and the whole neighborhood getting a low down on the chaos. With her eyes rolled back, I thought for sure she was a gonner...

I had a reaction to two types of medicines and a goodies that caused an ulcer to form. The ulcer busted the next morning. I felt weak, but didn't realize what was going on. Went to fix my kid some breakfast and felt light headed. Laid my head in my hands on the kitchen counter and raised up real fast (said something like "shake it off") and don't remember any of it after that. Apparently I started falling back and tried to get my balance until I landed on the couch. I ended up sitting back on the couch with my head looking at the ceiling and laying on the top of the couch making it to where the blood couldn't get out.

I would fake sleep sometimes before school with my kid on the couch, with him on one end and me at the other, so my wife (now ex) thought the gurgling I was doing was fake snoring. She said that she came in the room yelling saying that the kid was going to be late and saw me turning blue and smothering because of internal bleeding. She then called 911, drug me to the floor, followed instructions to get me breathing again, and to get the blood out of my throat, windpipe, and elsewhere. She got the kid to go outside on the porch and direct the ambulance in mainly so he wouldn't see any of it. I woke up sitting in a chair in the kitchen with people all around me. This EMT kept asking me if I wanted to go to the hospital. Ex got pissed and said some words to the lady basically calling her an idiot and she (ex) was saying that I was going and that was the end of it. The EMT said that I had to give my OK since I was awake. I said some bad words that meant heck no female dog and get out of my house. They then realized that I wasn't very coherent and listened to my ex.

I got to the hospital and the doc said that I had lost 4 pints of blood and had "died" for 3-5 minutes. He asked me to stay in CCU a few days and me still being a little out of it said no. He then said, "you just died and had to be brought back to life, so I'd appreciate it if you would stay and let us figure this out". My wife gave me the look so I agreed. They figured out that the mix of meds for a damaged nerve and a goodies caused the reaction. After a few days of ice, broth, and jello I was OK and sent home. That first food (a sub) was the best food I ever tasted after only being allowed the three "foods" above for a few days. Anyway, I pulled through and have never had a goodies since. No bright lights or anything. I don't remember shite. Believe it or not, this is the short version of the story. ;)

Dang man. You are a bad ass

Yep. I was F313 in 96. You?
F432 I think. Meningitis. 95-96. Valentines weekend they hauled me out on a stretcher after the cops finally let paramedics in. Cops thought I OD'd on crack. They confiscated a quartz rock my roommate had. Barney was convinced it was crack. Died that night. Resuscitated. 3 week comma. Weighed whopping 115 pounds when parents wheeled me out of Oconee Memorial.

After three strokes in 2016 I had 9 hours of open heart surgery. My heart was stopped for several hours during the surgery. In a way I was "dead". When I woke up, I remembered nothing.

Damn dude. Did you have any of those visions or out of body experiences when you died?

I remembered being in lots of pain. Asked God to take the pain away. He said put it in my hands. Next thing I know I was looking at my family and beside me stood some other wordly being. Not sure who it was, God, Jesus, guardian angle, the morphine drip....

I asked my mom after I was out of comma if certain people were in the room. She verified the people I said I saw. So take it FWIW....

Was in NYC and tried to stay up drinking with 5 guys from Scotland, at one point during that night I'm fairly sure I was clinically dead.

Does that count?

In my limited book, it absolutely counts.

I tried the same with a couple of British SAS guys, and it did not end well...I'll leave it at that.

One of those men (he married a girl from Greenville) has since been featured in a History Channel story on snipers, and mentioned in the Chris Kyle book American Sniper.

Clearly, I had lost my mind. It's a bit small. so no surprise....

I passed out in Levi Stadium midway through the 3rd quarter when Justyn Ross took off untouched down the seem.

I woke in Ecstasy! One of the greatest experiences of all time .

I had a pulmonary embolism back in October. Same thing cj fuller had but they dont know what caused my blood clots. Heart stopped beating for 7 minutes til they shocked me back. Does that count?

You had no pulse for 7 minutes - that is no blood flow to the brain and didn't have sequelae ?

I know you're trolling (at least I hope) , but be careful what you hope for. I've coded several several people - most don't come back. Based on population studies, fewer than 10% of the people who undergo in hospital arrest survive to leave hospital. That number is much much less for an out of hospital arrest

You are correct. While Im not afraid of death, I dont really want to die and come back to life. This is the internet, we can suspend reality, right?

What part of the medical field are you in?

The crew and I did it a few times back in the 90s. They made a movie about us. Kevin bacon played me, of course.

I never really expected it to be that low for some reason until my wife told me how rare it is for someone to code and still live awhile after it. To the point that if she has to code someone that it’s a win if they are still alive when her shift ends.

Getting a pulse back is tough - but that's only part of the battle. We can get a pulse back in the hospital, though difficult as I illustrated above. The tricky part is that many of those patients will have sequelae from their lack or reduced perfusion to the brain (in spite of even the best chest compressions) - in that case, patients may have severe brian damage or may stay in a persistent vegetative state.
Thus, getting a pulse back is only a small part of the battle. Those patients will be intubated and mechanically ventilated on drip medications (like norepinephrine or epinephrine) to keep their pulse.

Dang man, I knew I was lucky but not to that extreme. Maybe my ex saving my life is part of why we ended up best of friends after some time for me to get past some stuff. I mean, someone saves your life and I guess you kind of owe them for the years you may not have had otherwise. If not for her quick/calmish reactions.......well I prefer not to think on that stuff.
