I don't know the answer to this, but how many ATTEMPTS are there relative to apprehensions and expulsions? If attempts are up 100% and apprehensions and expulsions up 50% as an example, then that's a massive failure, even with record apprehensions and expulsions.
This is a common talking point. But nobody knows how many people cross undetected. Conservatives like to assume that the number is quite high, but how do they really know? It is like me saying, "Well, if trump has been indicted four times, then clearly he is guilty of hundreds more crimes."
What we do know is that 60% of the apprehensions at the border are repeat offenders. And 25% had made three or more attempts. So I would argue that this suggests that hundreds of thousands are not crossing undetected. You would think more of them could succeed on their fourth try if that were the case.
Details on over 1.2 million individual apprehensions by the Border Patrol covering the period from March 20, 2020, when the Trump administration initiated this new Title 42 policy, and extending through September 30, 2021, after President Biden assumed office were analyzed. These data reveal that over 700 thousand apprehensions out of the 1.2 million involved individuals who had previously been apprehended attempting to enter the country. This translates to almost 6 out of every ten apprehensions were of repeat offenders. [5] Just four out of ten (40.8%) had no record of a previous apprehension. Nearly one out of four (24.6%) had three or more previous apprehensions.
We don't know the number of people crossing, but whatever the number is we know that it is overwhelming our cities who are handling a fraction of what Texas has to handle. So whatever the number is it is too high.

I am pretty sure that the migrants being bused from Texas to elsewhere are documented asylum seekers. If not, and Gregg Abbott is sending undocumented illegals to NYC, then he is in fact the one who is not enforcing our existing laws. He should be deporting those people.
Trump promised that Mexico would pay for the wall. He had a republican senate and congress for two years and still failed to get it funded. Why? Because everyone knew how stupid of an idea it was. You put up a wall and people are just going to go through a port of entry, like the vast majority already do. The laws need to be updated. Well, nytigerfan, entering the U.S. other than a port of entry is illegal. The border patrol is allegedly documenting those illegals and releasing most into the U.S. with instructions to report back for further processing at a later date. Most never return, especially the rapist, drug dealers, crooks, etc. The great city of New York has designated itself as a sanctuary city so Abbott is just trying to help the illegals find a nice place where they are welcomed with open arms.
As to your recommendation to report crime to the police, the border patrol is the police and they are doing the releasing under Mayorkas directions. It’s too bad that Delaware is not a sanctuary state. I know a lot of places there that they could send the illegals. They could sit in Biden’s corvette and read all the classified documents in his garage.

I know what I see with my own eyes, nytigerfan, and I saw barbed wire installed at some of the illegal entry areas in Texas and guess what happened - there was the U.S. Border Patrol cutting the barbed wire to allow the illegals to enter. To me, that is aiding and abetting the criminal act.

Do you know why they cut the barbed wire? Because our immigration laws dictate that they must. Once those people arrived on American soil (which is on the other side of that wire), our laws say that they are entitled to request asylum. IT'S CODIFIED IN THE LAW.
Asylum seekers must be in the U.S. or at a port of entry (an airport or an official land crossing) to request the opportunity to apply for asylum

At no point were any of those 200K people "illegal aliens". They were migrants who used the US Border Patrol's APP to request asylum, and it was granted. That made them documented migrants when they boarded the plane.

Nowhere in that text does it guarantee the asylum request wherever they decide to touch US soil. Leave the boarded wire up and force them to enter at a port of entry or other organized entry point. The law does not require them to remove the physical barrier.

If you put up barbed wire - or a wall for that matter - in the US side of a river, you are building it on US soil. Once someone standing on US soil, they are entitled to be processed under current US immigration law.
That is why one of the biggest flaws of the wall was that an immigrant could just touch it, and by LAW we would have to process them.
Even trump's idea about building a moat filled with alligators would need to be built on Mexican soil to be effective.
Build the wall on the border. That way migrants will never reach American soil. It's really that simple. But it was the Orange man's idea and that would require for democrats to aknowledge that he was correct so it wont happen.
