Was walking the trails in the Clemson Experimental Forest today, and from a higher ridge I saw a really big wild boar walking in the creek down below. Luckily my dog didn't notice him and I was able to turn around after I was able to confirm it was alone. It could have been pretty bad though if we ran into each other under different circumstances.
My question is what are the legalities of shooting a boar in self defense here in SC? Does it matter that it's in a protected forest? I know there's not a season on hunting them, but this isn't exactly hunting.
