but your broader point that true leaders want nothing to do with government is dead on. they don't want the petulance and dysfunction, they don't want the bureaucratic red tape, and they don't want to constantly be the center of attention. the need for one to take hold is reaching desperation levels because we've effectively removed consequences at every level of government and executive offices. if you hold a significant enough position you can do whatever you want and be protected from punishment no matter how egregious the act but they'll throw you in jail for a bag of weed or a miscalculated tax return. there's no more glaring example in history than epstein.

that does have a breaking point though, but as a society i'm not sure we have enough people that are willing to accept accountability being a two-way street. it's sickening to me how anathema it's become for people to look in the mirror and admit their own failure when it comes to anything. for example, we see the horrific people in office and what they get away with, but we voted for them. there is a road to correction, and a good place to start would be people expecting themselves to be part of a solution, not waiting for it to happen for them - to be clear that's not directed at you personally at all - society at large i think is just too quick to complain but too apathetic to ever do anything themselves.

Extremely high correlation between obesity and COVID complications. Christie is a bright guy and knows this. If he wants to blame someone for a tough bout with covid, some introspection is probably warranted.

My comments around obesity generally relate to two political topics - COVID and healthcare (see my post about obesity rates in US vs. EU). Obesity is a massive contributor to the complications and cost within each. That’s undeniable. And this is a political board so…

Never fat. Not bullied. Just believe in personal responsibility as a key political tenant. And people who don’t take responsibility for their own health and burden others with the costs associated with their choices are certainly not helping things around here.
